Barracuda for sale in my area
« on: November 11, 2007 - 02:41:20 PM »
Called on a 70 Barracuda w/383, slapstick, rallye dash, and some other non original equipment. Supposedly the car is non numbers matching, has some rust in the usual areas, and has not been started since 1989. Appears it will need everything to get it back to original form. I haven't looked at it yet but the guy wants 15k for it. Can anyone help with a ballpark price and what the Vin #'s BH23NOB mean?

 Thanks!

I paid 9k for my 318 plain jane car a little over a year ago. The link is to my restoration of the car and the first pictures are what it looked like when I got it. It had very minimal rust. I only had to replace the trunk floor and the drivers inner fender, and other than a dent in the drivers quarter and the front end damage on the passenger front the car was very straight when I got it, and it was complete. Being a factory big block car even though it is not a 'cuda model, depending on the rust 15k probably is not out of line even today with the slight slippage in prices.

Thanks for the info 72hemi. We are going to look at the Barracuda tomorrow. Got both fingers crossed. :naughty:

What is the difference between a Cuda and a Barracuda?    Sorry, a Challenger owner here. Guess I need help quick. ???

I think...
Barracudas had 3 trim packages. Barracuda (base trim), Barracuda Gran Coupe (premium trim), and 'Cuda (sport trim). The Barracuda and Gran Coupe came with either a 198 1bbl, 225 1bbl, 318 2bbl, 383 2bbl, or 383 4bbl. The 'Cuda came with what Shane described above (340, 383, 440, 426). The 440 4bbl was only available in 1970. All 1971 440s are six bbl cars.

Please get the fender tag readout.  If it has the M46 option and you are not interested in the car I would be very interested.  This side scoop option came on only the barracuda models, not the gran coupe or the cuda.  We would all love to see the readout of the fender tag or build sheet.  thanks

For $15K, you could have my #s matching real 'Cuda (not a Barracuda or Gran Coupe).  BS23N0E.  Probably put the same amount of $$ into it but will have a much more valuable car when done.   :money:

Well here is what we found. It has 77,000 miles on the odometer, does not look to have been in a serious accident, has factory undercoating, but quite a bit of rust.

I'll let the picture do the talking for now and see what you all think.

Geez,

This is tough. 15K is kinda steep I think. I would feel better if that hood didn't have that crazy hood scoop, or if there was less rust. This needs alot of work, plus you have to figure the engine and drivetrain need rebuilt. I hope you are in it for the long haul.

I would say that being a factory sublime green, rallye gauge, 383 4 barrel, even though it is a BH car instead of a BS car it could be worth the price.

So originally it came with the sublime, rallye, 383 4 barrel? Is that what the tag say's. :dunno:

Yep,  Dual exhaust, buckets and console also.
I think the price is a little high since the engine doesn't run and hasn't run in almost 20 years.
That price wouldn't surprise me at all if the engine at least ran.   :clueless:
