This has been posted before but now it's nice to actually see it in a magazine, sorry if it has been in a magazine before.  This was a topic that was started on Moparts a while ago.  It is now in the Hot Rod Winter 2007 Paint and Body quartly magazine, on newstands now.

Here is a thread on the Hot Rod magazine website.  It looks decent and this guy has a way to do it so you don't have to sand as much.  Looks interesting....   :)

My buddy painted his Falcon with a roller when we were in high school, it looked like it had been painted with a roller.  lol  Maybe he should have tried sanding it some.

I remember my dear late uncle painting his late 70's Ford Fairmont wagon with a brush(silver). As if anyone needed another reason not to steal it.  :smilielol:

It all started on Moparts.  If you want ALL the information, there is hundreds of pages of information on there.

Thanks, Steve.  :)

I think Ryan was just saying that there's a lot more info over there in addition to what was in the magazine.

In the second link I think the guy used a foam brush instead of a roller.  I think.  I have to read the link again but I think that's why he didn't have to do as much sanding?  I dunno.

I wonder with the limited # of colors from Rustoleum if I could blend up some Super Blue.  It might just turn out light blue and not as bright.  I'm tempted just to try it on some small areas or even a fender. Might be too cold to do anything now anyhows...

I did it waaay back this spring, didnt turn out too bad, this was with a foam brush.  It was smooth, but too rippley for my liking, even after sanding.  This pic was just after a fresh coat.  Was definitely shiny enough, but it was a tad thick and I got some orange peel.  I havent done anything since like June on the roof, I have to wetsand it all back down before I spray it with the gun this winter.

  Kinda close to superblue.   :icon16:

Wow!   :wow:  Looks pretty good, Steve!

Did you make a thread on this?  Thanks for posting this.   A little rippley yes but it DOES look good.  You are a brave man!

Haha, thanks.  I think I have given up on it.  If I'm putting a Hemi in my truck, its not gonna have a hack paint job.

I am considering painting the underside of my Challenger with Rustoleum. It will never be a show car, and that seemed much more economical than automotive paint.

There was a post on Moparts that said Tremclad 566 was almost a match for Sublime.
http://board.moparts.org/ubbthreads/showflat.php?Cat=0&Number=2655425&page=0&fpart=17&vc=1
I can't find on the color on the Rustoleum or Tremclad websites.

I e-mailed Rustoleum, but got a non-answer; "Check our website or see Lowes/Home Depot". The Lowes people had never heard of tintable Rustoleum. They actually suggested tintable house paint!  :clueless:

Does anyone know if there actually is a Tremclad color to match Sublime/Limelight? (and if so, does it have a matching color available in the U.S.?)

Sounds interesting.  Just pick a color and start painting.

Here's a link to the Rustoleum that Hot Rod used.  I don't see anything that is close to Sublime but you can mix the paints.  I was having the same thought about Super Blue but I think Sublime would be a harder shade to match.  I wouldn't go with house paint as that is probably a different type of paint all together.
