My AAR Tribute Car
« on: November 17, 2007 - 02:36:37 AM »
Hey Folks,

I've enjoyed looking through this forum and seeing the pics of all the cars so I thought I'd contribute to the Moporn  :ylsuper:

The idea I've had for this build is simply put... AAR Tribute Car.  It's been a fine balance of staying true to the original car and having the creative liberty to customize.  The suspension is mostly stock, to the exception of all FirmFeel components.  Stage2 steering, 1" T-bars, QA1 adjustable shocks, tubular UCA's, boxed lowers, reinforced k member steering bracket, 1.25" front sway and .75" rear sway, all Moog front end.  Rear has the 3/4 relo kit with custom brackets for the front hangers so that normal XHD 22" springs can be run.  Frame has US car tool frame connectors and a 4 point roll bar.  The engine is a 68 HP block solid roller 440, all forged, ported edelbrocks, victor intake, demon carb.  Tranny is built with components from Cope Racing; billet servos, 4.2 lever, 15 spring piston, low band apply reverse manual valve body, custom built 9.5" stall, etc... (didn't go with the billet drum)  3.55's in an 8 3/4.  I plan to run 17's all around for good handling and traction.  245/45/17 on 8" fronts and 285/40/17 on 10" rears.  I'd love to see anyone else's car running those size wheels!  Oh ya, Wilwood brakes all around, Rocky Mountain Dashes E2 dash insert, Arizen leather seats.

At this point in time, the engine, tranny, suspension, and exhaust (2.5" Magnaflow) are installed.  Everything else will be going in at a rapid rate now.  It's been in the shop for over 2 years, but has been well worth it!!

Here's some pics of the build along the way... I can add more as it continues to go.   :burnout:

I think you got one hell of a Mopar there dude. The stripe is not me, but it dont look bad. The rest of the car is real sharp.

wow - that looks slick! I was about to ask how much you lowered it then realized the wheels are just placed under it. That is about the stance I am looking for on my 72 and will be running 17" on it.

:wow: I love it!  Great color!  :2thumbs:

I like the term "tribute car".  It sounds like you're paying homage to a great car!

Thanks for all the positive comments everyone!!!

I spent a long time sketching different AAR style stripes until I finally decided on how you see it now.  I was mildly upset when Foose did his "Mopar Stripe" on those challengers... I figured folks might think I was copying him, when really I've been wanting to do a custom AAR stripe for years.  Anyhow, I'm happy with the way it turned out.  I'm sure it's not for everyone, but that's ok... I built the car for me, not a judge.  I'd love to hear what ya'll think of the stripe!  The colors are House of Kolor violet and pearl black.  The camera can't quite capture the color of the purple, it looks kinda blue in the pics.  The color flops very slightly depending on the sun - sometimes a redish hue and sometimes a bluish hue.  The black is killer with all kinds of stuff going on in it... like a very slight green and purple flake in the direct sun.

I can see the Fooseness. But IMO it's WAY better looking! I like it ALOT. Especially how it flares at the door handle  and then narrows and fades.  You can tell you played with it. Ya' gotta' have a vision!    Got any more pics? :picture:
