New Daily Driver - Stealth Jeep
« on: November 17, 2007 - 08:06:33 AM »

Just posting an update on my new daily driver, 2004 Grand Cherokee Overland. V2 or version 2 I call it lol as I had my old XJ which was version 1. I'm real happy with the way it's turning out. A few mods to come but well on the way and a perfect reliable daily driving V8 that's Mopar. I sold the XJ to help fund this a few weeks back and have had this new Jeep for around 3-4 weeks.

Modifications:

3" IRO (Iron Off Road) Lift Kit w/Bilstein Shocks
Heavy Duty Front & Rear Addco Sway Bars
Black 16x8" Cragar 397 Soft 8 Series Wheels (5" BS)
265/75R16 (32x10.5") BFGoodrich A/T Tyres
5% Window Tints Rear & 35% Front Windows
Grille, Lower Fascia & Side Molding Painted Satin Black
Black Headlight Covers, Taillight Guards & Window Monsoons
All Badges & Emblems Removed With Heat Gun
Rock rails, Towbar & mudflaps removed (Jeep rubber tow hitch cover)
Calvary Charger Airhorn
Valentine 1 Radar Detector

To come:

Kolak 3" Exhaust with Hi-Flow Cats & Flowmaster Super 40 Mufflers
Chrome Magnaflow Exhaust Tips
K&N Filtercharger Injection Performance Kit (FIPK)
TransGo Performance Shift Kit (Firmest Available - L2)
Westin Sportsman Powdercoated Front Grille Guard
Wesitin Rear Taillight Guards
VHT Nite Shade Spray Blackout rear lights
3 x Hella Black Magic Spot Lights For Grille Guard

Cheers,
Carl

Hi NZ,
I does look really nice. I think what really makes that it was removing the emblems.
Maybe it will make the next Batman movie.

I love smoked lights, now you need to do your rears.  Is that illegal in NZ?  Over here it is.

Looks great Carl.   :2thumbs:

LOL, thaks guys and well put SC73.

71bigblock - The tints are illegal, you can't have them on. But, ah, I had them on the XJ and  have been past hundreds of cops who had full view of my light shades and I never got pulled over, not once. I think it could be the all black theme that may sway them as they may think it's part of the exterior appearance from factory, that and the bullbar helps disguise it.

Badfish - Nope, same old 7.2mp camera that fits in the pocket, no tripod etc this time.

Just a quick update, put the grille guard/bull bar on the Jeep Friday, much better. I also sprayed the side markers and rear taillights with two coats of "VHT Nite Shade" spray, big difference. Just waiting on the 3 x Black Hella spots to fill the grille guards center piece in front of the grille and the rear taillight steel guards and the exterior is complete. Once that's done the last items are 3" Flowmaster Super 40 exhaust, hi-flow cats, K&N CAI kit & shift kit.
I'm also upgrading to a 4" lift kit, which isn't much as the 3 & 4 are basically the same, just new coils, sway links and transfer case 1" drop. I'm doing it to clear the 32s better. They clear but I want them to clear comfortably so when I go off-road I don't have to worry, as much. Once the kit is in and the above mods are done, it's complete.

I Love it, suits me to a tee! I couldn't ask for a better daily driver for myself. :woo:

The Jeep looks great  :2thumbs:

If you are trying to make it stealth, are you going to darken the fog lights and hubcaps?

Thanks. Yeah, I did think about the center cap but even with it it's stealth as hell (lol) and I like the fact it breaks up the wheel nicely. The fog lights I'll do though, I should have done them when I did the other lights. :-X

I personally like the center caps the way they are too, they do break up the wheel nicely.  The grille guard looks great too.
