The pictures are a little less misleading, at least now you can see it's not a 426.  But the add is still written in a misleading manner.

Yeah it is still misleading, he answers the question of whether it has a hemi crate engine by saying it is "date coded engine from the period" WTF????? since when does a 354 from the mid 50's equate to a period correct engine for a car built after 1970???  That guy is

Well it's period correct for the period of 1945 to 1975.  I wonder if that's what he meant?

I've emailed this seller a couple times with legitimate questions, but have yet to get a response.  Anyone else try?  :dunno:

Oops. just got a response back.  I asked what the motor is, since it obviously is not a 426.  His response:

nope. it is a 392 stroked to a 425
I think it is a 1970 code

I believe that the 392 were only produced for 2 or 3 years total for cars. 57, 58, and I am thinking 59.

That's what I was thinking, also, and I mentioned it to the seller.  He wrote back and said he thought it was a '69 motor.  I would not be the least bit surprised if the buyer from the previous auction disputed this as a misrepresented listing, and that's why it's back on.

This guy is definitely being deceptive.  He just wrote me back saying that there is no mention of 426 Hemi in the listing.  Apparently he missed the first line about the 426 badging and dressing, or his response to the first question about it being an original period correct motor.  Is this worth reporting to Ebay as fraud, or should it just play out and hope no one falls for his deception?

Hard to tell what engine is in it, but how does he get a "real" JS R/T in '72?

Mike

Yep, misleading all the way.... although it should be a Rallye car in his listing,  my Consumer Information Sheet for my '72 JS Rallye Challenger says "Challenger R/T" on it from the factory.  :dunno:
1972 Dodge Challenger Rallye 340, AT, Code TB3=Super Blue, SBD=8/17/1971.  Yes, a Rallye without the fender louvers from the factory because of the body side molding option.

Well, he was truthful on one thing.  Sub Lime is a rare color, for 1972.

It is definitely nice, I just feel bad for someone who might plunk down the BIN thinking its a 426.  The seller should have specifically stated its a 392 instead of doing everything he could to insinuate that it is a 426, that's what has me bugged.  I know too many people who have been deceived on Ebag before.

He should be up front with everyone about the engine size.  Yes he does have a hemi but it is not the 426.
Got a pretty good start on my M46 optioned Barracuda restoration but now it is on hold till I can gather more funds.  Still need a few parts for it.  SIU Graduate 75 AAS Automotive Tech, 94 BS Advanced Tech Studies, 1997 MSED Workforce Education and Development

Covering his butt a little better on the second auction by removing the fake motor pics and putting in pics of the actual motor in the car. Still deliberately misleading. He knows it's a 392, but won't state it in the ad. Even a Chevy guy who doesn't know any better doesn't deserve to get taken. Surely no Mopar person would ever be fooled.
