cannot find serial #'s on 70 b'cuda anywhere
« on: November 22, 2007 - 03:44:25 PM »
Can anyone tell me where I can find serial numbers on a 70 barracuda?  I can't find a stamp anywhere.  I know the usual places like the radiator support and the drivers cowl.
 thanks

Fender tag, door tag, cowl rad support and dash vin Josh. You don't see a partial on the cowl?  I dug some stuff up for you too

No, not on the cowl.  This car has been through the hands of a farmer for 30 years.  Pushed around by his tractors and whatever else he had that would move it when he wanted it moved.  Part of cowl was ripped off, I have to even say that.
I have the vin number still intact on the dash pad.  These are the only numbers available so far.

:clueless:    So you have the VIN from the dash . . are you just looking to verify that the dash goes to that car??

Is the engine in it?  You could see if that matches part of the dash VIN.  :dunno:

No, unfortunately the engine isn't in the car anymore.  The numbers pointed out above are not to be found.  I have heard that there are other stamp numbers that are stamped on frame rails and such.?I was hoping someone would know where the unusual places are since I don't have the regular places any more.

On an Ebay auction, someone mentioned  the trunk drip rail but I think that may pertain to A-Bodies though....  :dunno:

Lots of time the numbers are buried under paint and scale on the rad support. And on the side if not on the top of the support. Want me to go and check again for you at where it's at before I fly outta here on monday , Josh?

The radiator support number can be anywhere from the middle of the support to clear over by the battery. It can also be on the top flange or down on the engine side of the face.

If the cowl number and radiator support number are both gone, that's it. There are no other body numbers.

That's what I was looking for Barry.  I have heard that you could find numbers in different areas of the e-body.  I guess the numbers people spoke of were for bodies other than E.  Really though, that sucks.  I want more numbers on my car.  All that survives is the dash vin tag on the dash in the body.  And I do mean body. I might have a few things that can be removed from it but not much.  Thanks for the info.  I would love to hear that someone has found serial number stamps on odd places like rails or trunk lips.
 thanks

I have taken a few apart,as many have seen in my past posts. And have never found vin #s anywhere but where they have been mentioned.Take the cowl screen out on the driver side and use a mirror inside the cowl looking up,if its stamped you'll see the #'s
