wally, the kit was from an eBay vendor named "Replacements" from Hatfield, AR.  The part is titled: 1970-74 Challenger Sound Deadener Kit (4-pieces), Item # 260174786994.  I have no issues with the vendor, but this particular item is a POS.  I'd show you more pics, but no need to dwell on this issue  :horse:

Great progress there buddy, and sorry about your disappointment.
One clarification about your A/C heater box, as I am doing mine now. Mine is seriously cracked in some places so I am having it fiberglassed where needed.
However, my two halves are held together with clips, where as yours with screws. Are there different models or what?
Thanks, Farouk

Sorry Farouk, I don't know the answer to your question other then if they are both original there must have been some production line changes :(

Got my engine back from the builder  :bananasmi  It's a warmed-over 383 that runs really strong and is a great street workhorse.  I don't care what anyone says, but a build up 383 is a great motor!  Hopefully will be even better after the rebuild.  Here's some details:

-Forged TRW pistons, 0.040 over, 10:1 compression w/closed chamber head
-Factory heads (516 castings) with the valves opened to 2.08 intake and 1.74 exhaust (simulates the 915 heads)
-Factory rockers and the shafts are the Direct Connection hardened and polished
-Mopar Purple Shaft cam .484 (284)
-Crankshaft was turned .010 under on rods and mains then polished and balanced
-Rod and Main bearings are 0.10 oversized Clevite 77
-Double roller timing chain with steel gears
-ARP head and rod bolts
-high volume oil and water pump
-Factory steel crank
-Facory style windage tray
-Mopar Performance aluminium dual-plane intake
-Ceramic coated headers
-Edelbrock 750 cfm carb

I painted the motor with the POR-15 engine enamal before I decided to do a full rebuild and this is what the block looks like AFTER the hot tank.  All it did was take the shine off it!  :roflsmiley:  They bead-blasted the heads to clean them up.  Now I need to finish putting it back together and do another coat of POR-15.  Another piece of the puzzle is back!

Finished repainting the engine today so that chore is done  :jumping:  Got the dash frame in and started wiring.  The M&H wiring kit is an exact match to the factory wiring so it has been fairly easy so far.  I've got a couple orphan wires that I need to figure out.  :clueless: Guess it's time to put on the dash pad and a/c vents next.  It's coming together  :cooldancing:

Thanks Hemiken.  I repainted using POR-15 Hemi Orange.  It's guaranteed not to burn off so unless the hot tank incident hurt the basecoat chemically, it should be bulletproof and look great for a long time.  My oil pan was powdered coated using Eastwood's Hemi Orange paint.  You can see that all Hemi Orange is not created equal!  :o  Not a show-stopper issue to me and will be a subtle variation once in the car  :misbehaving:

:faint: Your engine crane looks closer to the color of the engine than the oil pan, it is amazing how different Hemi Orange is between different brand paints. :clueless:

Still looks sh!t hot though, keep up the great work old mate. :woohoo:

Here's a mock-up of the top of my 383 with the Weiland intake and 750 CFM Edelbrock.  I was going to paint the intake Hemi Orange like the rest of the motor, but kinda like the natural aluminum look.  What do you think?

Question, do you RTV the surface between the heads and the paper gasket attached to the valley pan?  Likewise the surface between the aluminum intake and the paper gasket on top of the vally pan?  Seem like someone told me once those surfaces should not be RTV'ed.  Thanks.
