I used spray copper gasket on my intake gaskets. I also like the stock disguise of all orange, but thats me.

If you like the look of the raw ally intake make sure you paint the valley pan orange.  Mask off where the intake fits on the valley pan and paint the rest orange buddy.  You will only need the RTV at the front and rear of the valley pan, You could then mask off the painted section and spray it with the spray copper gasket like Wally suggested.  This will turn out great. :2thumbs:

Troutstream Watching your progress from across the oceans with much admiration and good feelings. I am very happy that things are progressing well, and as I said earlier, I have vested interest in your project :ylsuper:
My R/T, which is waiting for me to finish my convertible, will remain all original and I am still considering what to do to the engine. So, my friend, fire away and let us share with you.
I too like the Alu look of the intake, but why did you change the stock. Not efficient enough with the power you are going for?
With all the fancy figures you quoted on the engine build (common words for some :dunno:), what HP do you hope to get out of the engine and to what RPM will it go?
Good luck.

Thanks Farouk for the feedback.  This 383 was pretty much built up when I bought the car, but I never knew what made it run so strong (it smokes the stock 383 in my 70 Charger).  So, when it was recently rebuilt, I asked the builder to inspect and list everything in the motor so there was a record for the future.  The Weiland intake came with the car and it's better than the stock intake manifold for sure.  As far a horsepower, I'd love to get the car on a dyno someday to see what it really has, but I don't really know at this point.  I'd guess around 400+ hp (maybe Chryco can estimate this).

Major event today....installed the engine and transmission (successfully)  :cooldancing:  Dropping them in from the top is a good way to go if you have a tall shop crane and two friends to help.  My shop crane barely had enough reach on the 1000lb slot.  We found out afterwards the safety retainer that holds the rollers on the load leveler had popped out.  :scared: The whole thing could have fallen out of the leveler and seriously hurt someone or destroyed my new paint job.  Cheap A$$ Chinese tools  :swear:  We were lucky!  I did need to do some cold forging of the driverside header because the 4-spd bell housing must have different orientation of the starter compared to the automatic housing.  I had to "shape" one tube to clear the starter where they fit fine before with the auto trans bell housing  :dunno: Anyway, here are some pics on the install. YES!!!  :jumping:  :bananasmi

I'll be installing the Hurst shifter & linkage, Z-bar and driveshaft tomorrow.  Then I guess it's back to the wiring chore  :eek4:

There is a retainer clip on the pin that holders the rollers on the leveler.  The fourth pic down shows the right side of the pin after the clip popped out because the roller looks dangerously close to the edge of the pin  :scared:  The clip must have got stressed and just popped off.  My wife found it on the ground while we were dropping in the motor and I didn't pay attention to her when she showed it to me. :eek7:  I'll take luck any day thank you!!!

I've bought alot of stuff from HF and learned you never buy precision tools or tools that your life depends on from this place.  This was the FIRST time I've used this leveler for an install and not only did the safey clip pop off, it was very difficult to crank the unit under load and the crank handle broke halfway thru the install.  Cheap POS....I should have known better  :nono:  Now, the shop crane has performed well so far and has nice control, but I don't trust the 8-ton ram that's on there.  Guess you get what you pay for!  :-[
