Got my aluminum radiator from Smith's Radiator this week.  It looks nice and has good overall construction and weld quality (I've seen better aluminum welds, but these are fine).  The only downer is they claim the 26" radiators can accept the factory fan shroud and it does not  :swear:  I called Smiths and they said that you have to drill holes into the support, but when you lay the shroud over the radiator, the holes would have to drilled into the core or thru welds and not the support bracket...so their claim is false.  Not real happy about that!  I decided to keep the radiator so now I'll have to fab some brackets to get the shroud on.  Here are some pics of the original and the new aluminum radiator as well as the factory shroud mount that should be on the new radiator.

Looks real nice, almost like they welded the flanges on reversed. :dunno:

Very nice looking though! :money:

Yep, I'll need to make tabs off the shroud to screw into the "ears" welded on the side of the radiator.  Not a biggie, but it would look alot nicer if mounts would have been designed in.  It just bugs me they lead you to believe the shroud will fit right on....it doesn't.

Finally got some progress done on the Challenger this weekend  Got the aluminum radiator and multiple "under hood" components and wiring in place (not all hooked up yet).  Did a bench bleed of the master cylinder and got the brakes all hooled up and ready for system bleeding.  Finished up the inteior door panels and layed out the carpeting so it can stretch out before trimming (down the road).  Also started on the door and window weatherstripping and did some additional interior wiring and dash work.  Pretty good weekend of work.  Here some pics of the engine bay and stuff.  I'm seeing the end of the tunnel on this one  :bananasmi

Looking really nice and hot !
Been away from the web but now checking things and this really makes my heart pump. Well done buddy.
One thing I am not sure about, are your headers stainless or chrome?
What are they as I am still undecided for my 400 block (stroked to 451).
Any recommendations from any one is also welcome, only one concern they do not protrude much under the car.
Cheers, Farouk

Thanks again for all the encouragement.  It keeps me motivated and working on this giant project.

Farouk, those headers are ceramic coated with a satin polish.  I decided not to get new headers for the Challenger and just had the old ones ceramic coated locally.  Had a company called "Team Synergy" do the work and they came out really nice.  They claim to be international so maybe there's a shop near you!  Hope they perform as advertised and really cut down the underhood temps.  If you're buying new headers, I would recommend going with TTi ceramic coated headers.  The set on my Charger are really nice, fit perfectly, and were easy to install and the TTi's tuck closely to the body to maximize ground clearance.  Awesome  :2thumbs:
