Well I've got the car home and started working on it this weekend.  :jumping:  Cleaned up the K-member and front suspension yesterday and today applied a coat of POR-15 to everything.  This stuff is nuclear paint that should protect the metal for a long time (don't get it on your skin because the only way to get it off is to remove the skin!).  Also hit under the new manual tranny hump.  Pulled the steering column and began to disassemble for paint, a new ignition lock (all doors, trunk and ignition are keyed alike) and a new wood-handle tuff wheel.  Unfortunately someone had busted a bolt in the plate to pull the accordian can and I don't have a bit long enough to drill the piece out  :hyper:  The first of many issues to come!  Here is a couple pics including a before and after on the K-member.

Yeah, the digital camera can have a hard time with A4 if the light is not right.  The before pic does look pretty blue!  Next will be removing the rear shocks, cleanup of the rear suspension, and POR-15 touch up where needed.  I did the rear before the body was done so hopefully it won't need much work.  After that, it will be taping and covering everything up to do some fresh undercoating.  :smokin:

Well now I understand why you should apply undercoat first!  :clueless:  I ran out of time before it had to go into the body shop and figured I'd undercoat it afterwards...mistake!  :-[  What a P.I.T.A. wrapping the car and everything underneath before applying the undercoat.  Finished the rear 1/3 of the car and ran out of coating.  Looks like I'm going to need a case of this stuff   :22yikes:  A couple more progress pics.

It's just 3M professional grade rubberized undercoating you can buy at NAPA or WalMart.  I'm covering the areas that got knocked off during teardown and sandblasting and then hitting the old coat to make it look fresh.  Those cans of aerosol cans don't last long  :o

Got a pretty good start on my M46 optioned Barracuda restoration but now it is on hold till I can gather more funds.  Still need a few parts for it.  SIU Graduate 75 AAS Automotive Tech, 94 BS Advanced Tech Studies, 1997 MSED Workforce Education and Development

Your 71 Challenger is moving right along. Keep the pictures coming and your pictures look great. I would of had a hard time not making it a RT clone.
