:roflsmiley: Yeah...maybe I'll put a bow on it and once undercoating is finished I can have another Christmas and tear it open.  Maybe it will have a Hemi in it this time  :smilielol:

71340RT...I know..I know..To clone or not to clone, that is the question.  I have nothing against clones at all, but decided to keep it closer to the original car.  I'm going to guess people will be drooling all over it even without the R/T badges on it.  :angelwings:

I must say, this is beautiful!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  :2thumbs:

but please paint that vapor riser silver again!  :pullinghair:

Wally, is the pipe through which petrol is poured into the tank called "vapor riser" ?
If so, what was the final verdict, silver or car color?

well, i sort of thought that was the best name, but i was referring to that 18" tall tube that comes up on the passenger side. if you look under the car or have it off, there are 4 X 5/16" tubes coming out at an angle that tie into the fuel tank and return lines from the front of the car.....

my riser and (petrol) filler neck were silver (natural) from the factory...

Challenger_7 thanks and good luck with your project.  It's a great hobby for sure and it helps to have a great wife that will support you with all the time and $$$ it takes.  Well both my fuel filler tube and vapor riser had already been painted white previously so I don't know how they came from the factory.  I commonly see the fuel filler tube painted and the vapor riser unpainted.  I'll guess the both were unpainted from the factory.  :dunno:

Wow...finally got the undercoating finished!  :faint:  It took three days of taping, wrapping and applying the undercoat.  Used a case and a half of rubberized undercoat spray to get the entire bottom coated  :eek4:  Getting the front 1/3 of the car wrapped was a big job due to all the suspension parts and holes in the front quarters that needed to be sealed.  Only took 30 minutes to remove all of the plastic and paper wrapping once it was done!  Here's a couple "before" shots of the wrapped car.

It's tough to get good pics of the finished undercoating, but here are a few of the finished job.  Now it's time to start putting this baby together!  :jumping:  :working:

:roflsmiley: You poor bugger :smilielol: I know exactly what that is like, been their done that.  It is amazing how long masking takes and then it all just gets thrown in the rubbish.  Seems like a waist, but it is all a part of the job.  :2thumbs:

Keep it up, it looks awesome.

I wanted to go with the Gunmetal too.  I love that color.

I used 3M Undercoating (#08881) that I got from NAPA.  It's $5/can when you buy it by the case.  Really happy this job is done  :cooldancing:

Did you find you got a better stipled effect holding the can in certain spots longer and went slowly with the application.  Totally different than spaying paint out of a can. :drunk:

Yes, the more you apply, the better the texture.  You have to balance the amount of coating that goes on verses the cost.  One can doesn't last long at all putting it on heavy and I used 18 cans on this job as is.  I could have easily applied another 8 cans to get better coverage and texture.  This type of job is really better suited for someone that is set up for bulk applications working off a rotisserie.  Oh well, I do the best with what's available (and having fun).   :smokin:
