Need advice on LA Hookers
« on: November 23, 2007 - 05:11:45 PM »
Does anyone have a e-body with Hooker Super Comps 5115? I am looking for a header that does not go under the steering link because I have a rack ahead of the spindles. I have no torsion bars either so I don't need a low hanging header to snake around the t-bars or steering link.
The pics in the catalog looks like the passenger side is good to go but the drivers side I cant tell. I know the regular Hookers on my LA Duster had the pass side that went above the steering and I had to run the steering through and scraped on every bump since.

If anyone has these, please let me know about the drivers side. Here is the passenger, good to go. Next two are the drivers side.

Well you get what you pay for. Sometimes a little more money will get you a better return, wait, I don't remember which one I'm talking about. LOL
I guess it would be true in either.
The Hookers I had on the Duster were the cheap set and went under and these are the Super Comps and they definately, maybe, positively, could be designed to go over the steering link...... sometimes. Huh?
This is why I need to find someone with the 5115's OR wait till Monday and call a Hooker pimp, er, dealer.
Think I could find $20 Hookers on E-bay?

Hooker 5115 is around $420
TTI around what? $600
If I can confirm the steering link issue it's the 5115 all day. I had planned on the TTI's because they have advanced R&D, then I thought I'll fab some, it would be fun and a learning experience. Then thought it would be easier to buy a set of Super Comps and modify the tubes that hung low. But, I found these and now I'm really confused.
Any replies are welcome. Anyone ever "modify" headers? Have SuperComps? Wanna talk about Hookers?

I'm getting totally confused. Are there any e-body headers out there that you don't need to run the steering link through?

TTI's and the E-body Super Comp by Hooker. They go over the steering link.
The TTI won't work because they really hug the stock oil pan and I have a rear sump Morso pan with wide kick outs. Also the TTI's require you to notch the Lakewood scatter shield. the Hookers may too. I would like to find someone with these on a car so I can hopefully get a measurement betwixed the pipes near the rear of the oil pan. Otherwise, it's header fab time.

Or you could try a shorty header on that side...just thinking, not sure how much power you would lose.

I actually have some power to spare. I overbuilt the engine and WILL be breaking trannies if I hook good at all on drag radials. I thought about doing shorties. I would lose HP and torque but that may be a good thing.
