Question about Ralleye Wheels from David's Rally Wheels
« on: November 27, 2007 - 06:23:41 PM »
So, I just placed an order for a set of 4 wheels from David at David's Rally Wheels.  He offers a great price and says that they are from Wheels Vintique.  One hitch, there always is, these wheels are going on my 72 Cuda and in 72 the trim rings are brushed.  The only trim rings David offers are polished.  He says you can easily take a Scotchbrite pad to them and they come out great.

Do any of you guys have any experience doing this or have any advice?  Any help is much appreciated.

Thanks,

-Dan

Dan,

Are you trying to be totally correct with your car? I'll assume 14" wheels, as they were the only ones that had a brushed trim ring, I believe.  The polished looks better(my humble opinion). IF you really want to go at polished rims with Scotchbrite, I imagine it would give you the look you want. Just leave the outer part of the trim ring alone, meaning the lip out by the tire.

Thanks, Mike -that's good advice.  I'll see how the polished looks on the car and go from there.  I'll probably end up loving that shine  :naughty:

If the rings are plated and not just polished, do not scuff them up, because you will remove the plating and then they will rust.
