""You can run a 15x10" rim on a stock E-Body. I put 275/60s on a 15x10" cop rim on my 'Cuda. The back spacing was 5-1/2" and it fit.""

Anyone else run this setup...???

I'm 99% sure I won't get room for a 5,5 BS on my car...
And even with 5,5 BS I won't get room to the fender for a 10" rim...

But thats a Challenger, - is that the same as Cuda..???

I don't and will not post anything I'm not 100% sure of or haven't done myself so it is completely factual. Unless I state otherwise eg: "But I'm not 100% sure". 15x10" with a 5.5" BS did fit on my 'Cuda (not Challenger) with an 8-3/4", no rubbing. I wouldn't post anything to risk or harm a member or waste other members time and money. Cudas are different, a little less room, like, 1/4"? on each side. A Challenger would be fine.

Also, keep in mind all cars can be different. My 73 Cuda maybe slightly different from your 73 Cuda, same wheels same diff same rim & BS but yours may have less room. I was told about this in detail by Cass (Dr-Diff) he said it's quite amazing the difference he has seen and he sees a lot.

Is it just me, or are there almost NO 15x10 wheels available with 5x4.5 bolt pattern and 5.5" BS???

Seems like one can get 15x8 versions of any brandname rim and manufacturer with ease, but not the above specifications.

They have the standard Mopar wheels which are the only wheels I like.
Jegs and others sell Rallye & Cop rims in those exact sizes.

Guys, can anyone help me out with sideview pics of 275/60/15 wheels VS 275/50/15???

I really don't know which size to take and the opinions seem to be pretty varied about this.

So pictures of both options would be golden.

Not an E body, but here is a 275/60 on an 8" wide rim.

295/50 on an 8" rim. They fit, but aren't ideal.

you can also swap out the HD springs for the tighter Super Stock leaf springs as we did here supporting 275 60R15 on 7 inch cragars

I'd like to revive this thread, because the time has come to order my new wheels and i want to be sure to get the right ones. Below you see pics of my current wheel setup: It's 235/60/15 front and 255/60/15 rear on an 8 3/4 axle. Especially the rearwheels look like bicycle rubbers on my car, as there is plenty of room left.

Most likely i will stick with rallye wheels (just wider ones) and new rubbers. My goal is a menacing musclecar look, without any mods to the car. Carlwalski wrote that the widest i can go for (rear) is 275/60/15 on 10J rims with 5 1/2 bs. But i still got no clue what that looks like, as all the pics here are from 8" rims max. If anyone could post a pic of 275 on 10J, that would be awesome!

Another point is handling: 275s are said to handle much better on 10J, that they do on 8J. Do the tires/wheels really make such a big difference, if the dampers and springs are all stock? If yes, then i will probably have to go for wider rims in the front too, as I'd like to run 245/60/15 there.

As always your expertise is greatly appreciated.

Cheers,
Ralph

Edit: I'm also curious what brand/model of tires you suggest i should get.

i run 275/60/15 on a 10" wheel on the rear of my cuda, and 235/60/15 on 7" on the front.

i had the 10" rears setup with 5.25" backspacing in order to clear the springs by 0.5".
however i would like more room to the outside fender well (my car has all sorts of old dodgy rust repairs around this area), as it rubs when you have people in the back seat, or heaps of stuff in the trunk.
i measured everything a 1000 times before settling on 5.25" backspacing, and also test fitted one of carl's 10" 5.5"BS wheels with a 275/60/15 on it.
it was too close to my springs, and rubbed. it fitted his 73 cuda fine, so goes to show how cars can vary.
i have different distances from the tire to spring on either side, as well as different distances to the fender lip (which i rolled) from side to side.

i personally feel that a 275 looks better on an 8" rim. the sidewalls don't have quite the same meaty look on a 10".  the tread section also looks small when you mount a 275 on a 10" given the size of the sidewall section width.
i'd like to fit a b-body diff and spring relocation kit to my car to cure the rubbing. then cut the outer inner fender and fabricate a new section that allows more room.
probably pump the fenders some more when i do this (i pumped them out a bit before, they were quite dished in, i guess from the above mentioned old dodgy rust repairs).
then fit a 295/50/15 and lower the rear. 295s look great on a 10" rim.

here's some pics:

as for handling? i run goodyear eagle gtII tires, and think they are pretty average handlers.
my car has no sway bars and old crap shocks up front with the stock small-block torsion bars.
and heavy duty rear springs with good shocks.
my car handles like sh!t...    ha ha

cheers,
aaron

Thanks Aaron, i'm about to get the same setup that you have.

By the way your car looks awesome. If my Challenger needs a new paintjob one day, i might also go for such a hotrod black.

Cheers,
Ralph

15x10-5.5 backspacing, 295-50-15, 70 challenger, springs moved in 1", 68-70 b-body rear end , which is 1" narrower on each side. Dr-diff says that you can use a 5" backspacing if you use a 71-later b-body rear end.  Don't change your rear end. No rubbing at all. I used to have the 275-60-15s on 8.5" wheels, but it looked too skinny next to corvettes and Vipers, so I changed them.

I have the same setup going on my '71 Pace Car project.
Mocked it all up on my 72 Cuda, then transferred everything over to the "70 Challenger, so I know it fit the Plymouth also.

Hey Rob, i'd love to go for 295s too and your setup sure looks nice.

My only concern is that the /50 sidewalls make the Challenger's back sit a little too low, compared to the /60 sidewalls of the 275 tires. I think the total difference in wheel diameter would be around 35mm.

Si imo the best would be to get 295/55 tires, as they are only about 6mm less tall than the 275/60s. Would these fit??

All you can do is try a set and see if it fits your setup. Get a tire into the well then start measuring. Remember all cars are a little different.   If they made a 295/60/15, I would have loved to try them as my gas mileage suffered when I installed the 50s.
