Weird-A-Cuda!
« on: December 12, 2001 - 04:03:41 PM »
Hi All,

I just found a strangely optioned 1970 Barracuda. Get this, it's a standard Barracuda, not a 'Cuda. BH23N0E.

Check out these options:
FE-5 (Rallye Red Paint)
FE-5 (Rallye Red roof paint)
C-55 (Bucket seats)
M21  (Roof drip rail mouldings)
N-41 (Dual exhaust Without Tips through the valance)
N-95 (California emissions NOX)
R-11 (Am radio)
H6E4 (highline vinyl buckets in red)
000 (Full door panel car, 000=no interior paint color)
A10 (Built date- October 10th,1969)
D-21 (4 speed transmission)
E-63 (383 four barrel, 335HP)
062635 (Build sequence #)

*Ok, corrections made above, thanks for your help guys!

The car is strange because it's a base model Barracuda, 383 4 speed with a flat hood and 383 4 barrel emblems on each front fender! it's sort of cool though due to it's red on red color combo and 383 4 speed combo. It's a rust free California car but needs work, interior is nice, red dash is new from just Dashes, all else is "driver" quality. The original engine is gone but all else matches, the current engine is a vintage 383 and looks pretty stock. The car has been painted gold (I know..... yuk!) and has some dings and dents but is overall a solid ride. It's rarer than a Hemi Cuda! Only 602 produced according to Galen Govier.  It's for sale should anyone be interested.

H6E4 would be highline vinyl buckets in red. The second FE5 you have listed is the upper door frame paint code.

I'm not sure what's up with the 000 without knowing what position and what line it was in on the tag itself.

Also, what line and position was the A10 on?

Thanks for the feedback and info. The fender tag is laid out like this:

END
FE5 C55 M21 N41 N95 R11
FE5 H6E4 000A10 062635
E63 D21 BH23 NOE 111142

I don't recall if there is a space between 000 and A10? But there may be.

That's it!

The FE5 on the second line from the bottom is the body color, the FE5 above it is for red paint on the roof.

The 000 is for "full door panels", according to G.G.'s fifth edition white book. I have to confess I don't quite understand just what that means.

And the A10 is the build date of Oct. 10, 1969.

A10 is the build date or Oct 10, not the light group.
the 000 is the interior paint color but the E bodies don`t have any metal showing on the interior so they are always 000' the Charger has metal showing at the bottom of the doors so you do get a paint code there!! ;)
Other than that it is a neat car , & I have seen a twin in a convertable Barracuda 383 4 spd not red though

I also know of a similar convertible, in fact it's only 10 miles away from the hard top! a Guy named Paul juste owns it in northern California, if memory serves me correctly it's a 383 Gran Coupe convertible, it had front & rear rubber bumpers, steel Road Wheels, also had a flat hood but lacked the 383 four barrel emblems on the fender (maybe Gran Coupes didn't have the 383 emblems?) I think it was a 4 speed car but not certain, it's been 13 years since i've seen it. It was red with a white interior and was a beautiful unrestored "survivor" car. anyway, pretty car!

Hey, BadHemi!

With the backup messages missing, I can't quite remember ... is this the Barracuda that you sold for over 10K?

And I've been meaning to ask:  Do you have a website where you keep pictures of all these so-cool-I'm-drooling cars?  ;)

The 70 Barracuda, 383, 4 speed, red on red? Yes, that's the one that sold for 10k
The convertible is still owned by the same guy (15 years after I had first seen it) and is not for sale, but it would be BIG money if it was, it's a survivor, perfect original paint, looks like a new car! I'll venture a guess that it would bring around 40k, maybe much more, it's THAT nice.
No website, just a bunch of pics I keep on my hard drive, if you want pics of anything special let me know, I have a ton! :)

Forty thousand dollars!?  Sheesh!  That's hard to believe.

Do you get those books that rate car values based on their conditions?  I wonder if I shouldn't get some new ones. ;)

Heck YES I'd love to have pics!  I have very few e-body pics at my site.  Most pics there I took myself and I think I've only gotten 3 E-bodies in Alaska.  They're at:  Other Mopars.  But if you have a lot of pics, feel free to start your own photo album there.  I'd really enjoy having someone else upload pics for once ... seems I'm the only one! :(  It's a lonely job, ;) but somebody's got to do it!

Oh, and we're planning to fly to Vegas at the end of March for a major foosball tournament.  It'd be cool if we could meet some of you people near the area.

The person ordering that car was probly tryin to avoid the higher insurance rates of a 'Cuda.  Pretty smart.  BadHemi, would love to see that Gran Coup Conv!
I've only seen one other--a nice 318 car.  That's a 1 year only car  ::)
I need to get me a convertable for my next car.  A buddy of mine has a sweet 66 Goat convertable.  Not a flaw on the body...  It's a beatiful '99 Cougar red with Craiger S/S wheels.  It's great on those hot summer days... 8)

Hey, AKCuda!  Sis here. ;)

Can you tell me if I got the year right on this GTO?  Saw it at the Palmer Cruise last summer and it was just gorgeous!  But I only got a couple pics of it ... too many nice cars and not enough memory in the digicam. ;)

I've erroneously put it under the Chevy Section at this link right here ... yes, click right here!  I almost forgot -- you'll need to log in to see the photos because of the particular way I did the pics here.

Thanks for any knowledge you may have on it!  (Shoulda' been there!  You'll have to join us next summer when you come up!)

Yep, that's a '66.  Almost like the one my friend has.  He's got a 455, but unfortunately it's a one-wheel-wonder at the moment...

Seems such a waste of power!   :o

You know, those 66 GTOs are rather nice-looking.  (Should I duck now?) :D

Good to see you on the board.  Your car made it here before you did!  Hee hee!

:P  Ok! STOP IT! God made barn yards for goats, not Cuda chat sites :)

*Nice ones have their place, but ......well, I guess saying that car crushers is that place may seem a bit harsh (sniker!)
But I suppose anything beats driving a rice burner........

ROFLMAO!

There's a particular orange GTO (I forget the year) that I have a grudge match to run with.  When I get the time, I plan to explain that one under Kill Stories.  ;)
