Yes my ex landlord is a member on here. He was the reason I moved to Birmingham in the first place. He wanted me to restore his cars for him. He never had the money to do it when I was there or something. I know he sells a lot of parts on e-bay and maybe a member might have bought them from him. I could put alot more things on here that I did not get when I went down to get my car.
I waited overnight to see if "this person" would remove the accusations he's making about me but he didn't so I need to respond. I got a call from a friend who’s a member on here and he indicated someone was posting some “unusual statements” about me by name is how he put it… I was shocked to read what this person was saying about me and since he used my name in full (yes, I copied the html page for my records) and where I live I must respond to the allegations he is making. Yes, I did remove the ignition lock to move the car. (I will send you one if that will make you happy) The car was parked in front of my garage and it had to be moved since my Cuda was inside and the transport guy was on his way to pick it up. This is when he was overseas and I had asked him to move it but he wasn’t going to be home for over a month and I couldn’t wait that long. I thought I told him about that but it was over a year ago and I may have just forgot. After that (mid 2008) I put the car in the garage with assistance from a friend to get it out of the weather (I didn’t have to do that but I didn’t want the car to deteriorate further out in the elements) I didn’t even charge extra for the garage space until he moved out of the house in early April 2009. (it was in the lease I could charge $50 p/month to rent the garage bay) His large MAC toolbox was in there and I put it up tight against the rear of the garage wedged behind the car to keep it from being an easy target if someone broke in while he was overseas and nobody was in the house. While he was overseas and no one was living there regular several people left notes or dropped by my house next door looking for the owner of the car wanting to buy it. That’s another reason I put it in the garage to stop the onlooker traffic since we live near a fairly busy road and I didn’t want it stolen even though it wasn’t mine. There were a lot of boxes and totes with cameras, grinders, diagnostic tools, parts etc stored in the bay that nearly filled up a 20+ foot box van when he came Friday. I helped load the stuff and even brought my farm tractor over to help pull the non running car up on the trailer and pull the van out when it got stuck in my yard. No mention was made as to other missing items outside of an a/c unit and if he had concerns he should have asked while he was here and we could have looked thru the boxes to see if the missing items were there. The only thing I think was missing was a window unit a/c he claimed was missing he bought from Sears. There were two Sears a/c units he loaded up but he claimed there were three (two small and one large) after he moved some of his stuff in April there was only two units there and I didn’t know who they belonged to and I am at a loss as to why he didn’t just pick them up then. I installed a large unit since a lady was moving in May 1st. I showed one of his friends that the unit inside was not a Sears unit (it was a Hampton Bay) and I can provide the receipt to prove ownership. As far as the other purported missing items you can check my eBay account (426HEMI2U) and do a history search if anyone is so inclined. I have 367 positive feedbacks and no neg’s so make your own conclusions as to my honesty. The car sat outside since he arrived at the property 12/05 until I put it into the garage in mid 2008. I can’t guarantee someone didn’t walk up and take something but it definitely wasn’t me. I have no need for any of the parts, chrome or window cranks since if I want something I have several parts cars or I will buy it. Oh, I saw a box full of window cranks and other parts and I saw him load it as did my friend that was here as well. There was no grill in the car so I how could someone take chrome off if the grill isn’t there. As for the parts in the car I didn’t take them and even went far above what most people would have done attempting to secure the stuff after it was basically abandoned here. According to Alabama tenant law if you leave a property and don’t pay the back rent the landlord is not required to hold the property past 30 days of notice. I think that may be the event that precipitated this outburst and why he picked up he car before he had the floor done on his garage. We have to have a little history here and since he called me a thief online I will tell the whole story (which can be FULLY proved)
Get out the popcorn
guys this is going to get VERY interesting!!!
Back in 2005 I posted some on this site and he indicated he was looking for work restoring cars (I am sure the old posts will back this up if they are still available) He basically said he could help me and we could work out the terms when he moved in. After that it seems it was one crisis in his life after another, jobs, women, people doing him wrong etc… After several months he got behind on the rent and I again approached him about doing work to offset the rent but it never happened. 2007 rolls around and the rent payments got much more sporadic and to the point I had to do something but he was out of the country and I tried to be the “nice guy” and give him the opportunity to catch up since he said he was getting things together and had a good job. So he signed a promissory note in early 2008 signing over his car to me with him having the right to redeem the note if paid in full in 180 days with interest. He didn’t get caught up in the allotted time but I AGAIN allowed him to continue to pay the $$$ back since I really didn’t want or need the car since I don’t have the time to fix all the cars I have now. March 2009 rolls around and he comes back from overseas and he says he will clean out the house and store the rest of the stuff and the car in the garage for $50 per month and he will be back shortly for the car and other items. (He removed his belongings from the house early April) At this point he is still behind and I expected shortly to be about 30 days or so which was fine. In late April I got the last email from him until November 18th when he promised he would send a check for part of the balance. This probably occurred because I found out his address from public records and hired an attorney to attempt to get my back rent and send him a letter giving him a set time to get the car and the stuff out or it would be sold for charges. I felt that after many months of no contact at all I had to take legal action to get this resolved. I didn’t charge late fees or even attempt to collect the legal fees I incurred. I certainly lost a lot more than the value of a few pieces of chrome both in time and headaches.
A little about me…I am 52 years old and bought my first Mopar when I was 16. I currently am restoring that car (70 “V” code Cuda) and a 72 340 Cuda I purchased several years ago. Both are black cars with automatics. I was in the auto parts business for over 20 years prior to going back to college and getting my Bachelors degree and taking a job in Gov’t which I’ve held for the past 13 years. I have a beautiful wife and two teenage boys and take pride in everything I do. I’m not very “social” mainly because after dealing with the public for 20 years I became somewhat private. I have nothing against the person who wrote the bad things about me but because they started the conversation I feel I have to give my side…Some people in life are takers and others are givers. I feel that I have given all I can in this situation and probably am somewhat at fault for letting it get to the point it did. I should have done something much sooner. Make your own conclusions...
What a way to introduce myself...
