V.I.N thread?
« on: December 05, 2007 - 06:18:13 PM »
Would it be possible to have a permanent thread to post auctions of V.I.N tags for sale that need to be reported?
(just like the ebay section for car scams)
I really hate to see these being sold for "reference, or collecting"  :swear:

Here is a 1970 Dodge Challenger R/T 383 vin on ebay right now.
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/70-challenger-RT-vin-tag-Mopar-cuda-charger-dodge-383_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ10076QQihZ010QQitemZ200180554457QQrdZ1QQsspagenameZWDVW

Just look at the question that was asked in this auction.
You know EXACTLY where this was headed  :villagers:

I am very adamant about this subject, as I am missing the vin to my R/T Chally, (JS23U0B) as well as the broadcast sheet, and fender tag  :crying:
I was told that the previous owner changed the dashboard, and threw the old one away.......vin tag and all  :pullinghair:
That is the ONLY history I have on my car  :walkaway:

This is why I would love to see these being reported, so as to try and help the rightful owners get what they deserve

And thank you Barry for all your efforts  :worshippy
You give me hope that someday, maybe my day will arrive
 :feedback:

I have reported that one to the authorities already.  ;)

I do keep a permanent list of them that is available for all to see, but I have not been able to update it for a while.  The link is;

I am hoping to have it updated over the Christmas break.

I guess I'll just move on, and not report them.

I have the vin sticker from the drivers door, and it matches the cowl, and radiator support.

Plus, it pays to know the Sergeant of the Worcester Police Depaertment  :grinyes: :bigshades:

Sweet.

When the local PD came to my house to Verify VIN He wouldn't look at anything but the VIN tag.  I tried to show him the Fender Tag and the Cowl and Rad and the broadcast sheet, but no lookie.  I don't have the door sticker.
