Finally broke a 13 with the 318
« on: December 05, 2007 - 10:55:00 PM »
13.668 tonight  :2thumbs:

Story behind the track outing. Friend of mine is named Heath, goes to the same automotive school i go to. Been in class with him since feburary. He runs a 1993 Mustang 5.0, running 8psi via supercharger. He bought it built up already, the debate on who could outrun who has been going on since Febuary. Well about this time last month we agreed. 12/7...we're goin  :horse: Well come to find out on monday, 'he cant make it friday'.  :sly: But he was going tonight (knowing i had to work till 6, i would have to leave work get the car, drive to the track, and i probably wouldnt go.) Well i told every one in our group of friends, 'ill be there'  :grinyes:. However, Heath didn't find out till he saw me drive up  :bricks1: Couldn't let him get off running so easily.

First pass he ran a 14.1, i clicked a 13.7. Second time he red lighted a 14.0, and i pulled a 13.6.  :dogpile: He does make more power with his thing, but he can get it to the ground. Fine with me! I'll have some videos in a little bit when my friend uploads them.

Sweet! Congratulations with killing a supercharged 5.0 Moostang at the same time!  :2thumbs:
I'm guessing that your friend Heath is pondering on his rear suspension now?

Sounds like you had a good couple runs and beat a Mustang to boot.

That's awesome Mike!!! :woohoo:
My hat is off to ya!! I had a '73 Barracuda in high school with a 318. With some minor modifications (all upper end) I had it running mid 13's. Everybody swore I was running a 340!! Don't mess with no 318!!!

Congrats Mike   :2thumbs: A little grudge match ,  :woohoo:
I hope you guys had a little bet on the side, maybe gas money or lunch
Did you put the Cuda on the scales? probably 3,470 lbs w/o driver and 1/2 tank gas...
How was the air down there (corrected altitude) and rpm's in the lights . Sounds like you ran pretty good.
Where those tires to tall or did your car like them, shorter tire might pick up the 60ft a little..
Glad you ran good..

It was 3400lb, 1/4 tank w/o me last time it was weighed. Didn't check the D/A, but it was very cool, 40* or so outside. Car seemed to like the tall tire. My 60ft was the same as my 14.0 in vegas on 26" tires. The 26s were too short for my setup however, the 29 1/2s felt really good. I've yet to run on 28" slicks, be curious to see. Someday I'll be able to afford a real carb and see what it does when I set my Edelbrock aside :D
