Baddest 72-74 Challenger on the planet
« on: December 09, 2007 - 12:59:20 PM »
IMSA GT class racer using an aluminum Hemi with four DGA Webers. Okay, only the roof, quarters, doors and grill are still Challenger parts, but that Hemi is all Mopar. See more pics here as well as read about its evolution; http://www.glennbunch.com/ Car was originally built in the mid 70s and raced until '79 then parked. It was finally resurrected a couple years ago.

It definetly is the only one in existance. I was floored reading the story about how back then the builder would just call up the Pettys or talk to Dunlevy or Rathgab like it was no big deal. Times sure have changed. I especally like the video of it dicing it up with the Ferraris and Porsches on the road course.

Just to prove how bad azz this Challenger is, it just won the GRM Ultimate Track Car Challenge. The premise is simple, invite some of the fastest GT style road race cars to the track, let them have at it, fastest car wins. Period. The Glenn Bunch Challenger beat Ferraris, Vettes, Vipers, and more. Even the much vaunted Steilow Camaro fell victim to Hemi power.

The body work has changed again and while I'm sure some will complain about its appearance, under all that fiberglass are the doors, roof, and B pillars of a 74 challenger. Engine has also changed to a 572, all alloy monster, that is still naturally aspirated.

2nd vid down shows it on the grid at the start and sneaks in a few clips during laps.
4th vid down shows it walking away from a 650 horse Viper ACR-X.
3/4 of the way down is a still shot of the front of the car.
