4 speed pistol grip shifter......

I am in need of a 4 speed pistol grip shifter. I have the push in style shifter mechanism.  I am not sure if I can use a bolt in style or not. Would I have to drill out my shifter to make it work?

Yes, you will have to drill the 2 holes to bolt in a new style handle.  I have the 70 style push -in style too but would never drill one of those out since it is more rare than the common bolt-on style.  Maybe someone here will trade you a newer style for your push-in style.  If you do have to drill it out, the bolts will be hidden under the boot anyway.
