Good luck with the Challenger, alphabuck!

A friend of mine told me that front chrome is almost impossible to get your hands on any longer. Looks in nice shape from the pictures.

Congrats on getting the car, alphabuck!!!!  It was just waiting for you.  Nice and for the price it was surprising how no one bought it for so long.  Love that wide nose trim!

thank you for all the kind replies.  yep those front moldings are waaay cool. looks like the drivers side fender one is bent im gonna need someplace to fix that.  im really jonesing to get the car here and start working on it. the transporter is picking it up on the 29th so by the new year ill have that sucker firmly attached to my wallet.

my first car was a 73 challenger that i got when i was 15 years old in 1980.  even at 7 years old the car still had tons of the common challenger rot.  in retrospect it was a pretty nicely optioned car with air and buckets/console, rally dash and wheels but a 318 car.  i got it from my uncle who lived up the hill from me.  i gave him 50 dollars and a 60cc yamaha minibike my younger cousins wanted.  i literally coasted it home because the starter was shot and even if it started i wouldnt have a license for another 9 months.  alot of blood sweat and bondo went into that thing at one point i put a 340 in it and when it blew i bought my 2nd challenger.

my 2nd challenger i bought when i was 17. it was a complete car with no powertrain.  a 73 body with a 70 ta front clip.  it was from kentucky and clean as a pin.  i gave a guy 1400 dollars for it and went and got myself another 340 block and swapped the top end off my blown 340. i had that car until 1985 when i sold it so i could have a down payment on a new 1985 grand am. i was with a new girlfriend at the time and she really wanted that pontiac.  few years later the car was gone and so was she hehe.

i always regretted selling that car and im finally at the point in life where i have the means and time to do something about it.  my plans for this car are to turn it into a nice driver.  i work in an auto parts store 1 mile from my home.  i can see myself driving this car everyday 6 months out of the year.  what i really have my eye on is this 1970 JH big block sitting in a guys yard not far from me. its been sitting there for years.  with a little more work i think im gonna be able to get it.  its in decent shape. a 383 car with white buckets and vinyl top. its numbers matching and a 70 so i think if i was ever going to really do a nut and bolt kinda restoration it would be on something like that.  in the meantime i gotta big enough project on my hands but its a labor of love.

That was a rare option on 71 Challengers. I like it too.

Good to see yet another Wisconsin member!!  I am about 70 miles from you, near Madison.  I had looked at that car at least 20 times while it was posted.  Good luck with the resto, it looks like you have a pretty solid base to start out with.   :woo:
