Far from perfect.. body's got rust, non-numbers, driver's door possibly replaced, different engine... ::) Just a few things I noticed...

You are wrong about the rally being a JS,mine is a jh and its a rally, actually its a challenger with a rallye package if you want to split hairs, but whats the diff.

seems like a fair or heavy prices, as it need a bit of work on the body and a new paint job after that.

In order for it to be a Rallye, it must have the "S" in the vin code. Its just like the cudas. BH 23 is a barracuda while BS is a 'Cuda. Check earlier years, JH is a challenger, but it must have a JS to be an R/T. This is STRICTLY going by the numbers. As far as I care it is a Rallye now motor/dash/fenders/suspension. If its all there, I could care less. This is what happened on my 72. (JH23) but was ordered with the Rallye Dash & suspension options (I have a buildsheet). Over the years someone put in a 360 & changed the fenders. Is it a true Rallye car? No way, it doesn't have the vin. I know of another 72 Chally in Montana near my uncles that has the Vin JS23G2B. Which I found wierd because the "G" is the engine code, so it is a "true" Rallye, with a factory 318 under the hood.

I Think this one will go "pretty cheap" (I'd be surprised if it breaks 9, shocked if it breaks 10K) To much rust showing to go that high. IMHO, I would have repaired those spots he took pictures of & have a paint shop blend it, easily could have got a few grand more for the car than he is going to get.

all of that is true about jh versus js,but as with my car,it was odered with everything a rally has.WHy, i dont know, maybe you couldnt get the otpions wanted with the rally(like A/C with a 4 speed)unless ordered that way, kind of makes the car rarer,to me.But who cares,it was ordered with all the good stuff so thats good enuf for me.A friend has a simular 73 cuda, barracuda vin with cuda trim package. The car says Cuda on it,so what do you call it?The emblems say Cuda, vin says barracuda,to me its a Cuda. That being said the car is 1 of 300 according to Galen Govier,we will see what mine is when i get the stuff back from Galen

Not to stray away from the topic here... but I'm lucky enough to have several GREAT guys in my car club that really know their numbers as well... I'd only go to Galen if one of them suggested it...  ::) Just my HO...

I have always went to galen, even though his authority is over rated,he does know alot and probably has more old documentation than anyone else. The 68 charger r/t,4 speed, dana 60 car i sold 6 months ago was decoded by Galen.Unfortunatly, stupid me,sold the car to build a horse riding arena on my property, and other projects i didnt think i had time for the car anymore, but now i am back into it.I ai9nt going to sell any again, lol.Oh well they come and go.

'72 Rallyes should have a JS VIN and the standard engine is a 318.

All '73-4 Challengers have a JH VIN and the Rallye is an option package, code A57.

Barracudas and 'Cudas kept the VIN difference all the way through '74.

Yeah what eveyone else is said that paint's just hidding something. Not abad car just not quite a perfect car. Close to being a nice runner would be the condition I would class it. Still it is only a photo hard to tell.  :)

I just don't think it's that great a car

It looks like it has an older restoration with shotty
bodywork and the rust is coming on big time

we all know that those pin holes are just the tip of the
iceberg and that car is gonna need the full on treatment

Of course I could be wrong

Yeah you make a good point. My car was in that condition......looked good from10ft away but as you got closer if you knew where to look you could see minor inperfections.
Paint was all good on my car except under the rear window, and you could pretty much bet that this car will have the same. My car was solid but the painter did a real sh#t job to say the least!! Left stickers in the engine bay half on so you get that "nice' sticker under the paint look, drips, blotches and crazy cracks this is what this car would have or be getting.
