Origianl matching #'s V Code
« on: December 13, 2007 - 08:42:29 AM »
Here is an ebay car that I was calling on in attempt to get it bought.  After working with the guys over the phone for sometime, I realized I wasn't looking at an original matching #'s 440 six pack challenger.  Instead,  the car is a 440 magnum with a non matching block and non matching transmission.  Is this ad misleading?

Too many pics and no info. I wouldn't pay 40 k for that car.

If it had been a real 6 pack with matching numbers :poopoke:, I don't think $40,000 is out of line at all.  As is....well it will be interesting to hear others on the board chime in.  I know I'm not paying $40,000

Yes it is.  He states "Original Vcode" but the VIN he shows is "JS23U08163615".  I don't see where it says numbers matching but I still wouldn't trust the seller.

To answer the question, yes, it is misleading.

The more I look at that paint, the more I like it.  Wow!   :wow: :ylsuper:

In my opinion yes it is..regarding the price I think is worth every penny when you have in consideration all the "extra items included in the trunk" :smilielol: :smilielol:

He does say "Original "Matching Numbers" high performance 1970-1971 Challengers are among the sought after collector cars." in the opening description that talks of the car and 440 six pack challengers.  This car is neither, but the description is broad.

The paint isn't as bad as the interior.

The ad is very misleading, and that interior and dash are too much, but I kind of like the "Back in the Day" paint.  I wouldn't pay 40k for it though.

   :iagree:

25K, I'd say yes. 30K, might be pushing it, but I might bite.   :2cents:

Misleading is an understatement. It does list the VIN as a U code but the heading in the add says "original V code". And I would agree I think 40 is quite high for what were looking at.

I find very little to like about that car and even less to justify that price. An original one owner car with supporting documention and 40k miles is nice and all but what that one onwer did with it really hurts the value and makes it much less desirable.

Looks like there is 40k on the clutch pedal alone  :eek7:  I do sort of like the old school paint but the interior is horrid and the ad is awful misleading to say the least. I dont dig on the 71 style stripes on a 70 either but I have always been like that. To me the wrong year stripes on a car just take away from it.
