I have a 727, what transmission would have to be put with that motor?

Dusty1, A big block 727 is what you need. Or a 4spd.  They did not make a 904 for a bb engine :2thumbs:  Is yours off of a 383, 361,400, 426w, 413, 426h, 440?

Unless I've been told wrong, that is what is on this '67 318. The oil pan is shaped like the 727's I've seen for sale. Does that sound right? Maybe not, mine isn't the squarest pan of the two, mine has a slant and a bulged corner. Maybe I'd need a tranny.

They also installed 727's on small blocks, but you still need a bb bell housing patern 727. They are common to find or buy.

You might want to double check on the crank in that as well, it might not have been factory drilled for a pilot bushing for a 4 speed in which case you would have to run an auto. I bought a 440 from an RV 3 years ago and was dissapointed to find that it was going to take a crap load of work to modify it for a 4 speed,  It's not a huge problem but you do have to remove the crank and have it drilled and re-balanced and more than likely it's a cast crank, so if you are going to go through all the trouble of converting to a 4 gear, you might as well just find a steel crank to fit that rascle. Just my 2 cents from experience, Dave

Thanks Dave, good to know. There are too many details. I'm trying to talk to a guy that has a '69 Road Runner sitting outside rusting away. But it happens to have a 426 Hemi sitting in it. No problems there are there?

The only problem that I can see is that the hemi Roadrunner is not sitting in your driveway. Get on it - if you know about it - so does someone else!!!

I see no problems there, A Hemi transplant is a good thing, unless it's a factory hemi runner in which case I would either fix it up and keep it or fix it up and sell it and buy a crate hemi and have some cash in your pocket or if it's to far gone pull that big son of a gun out and either sell it and buy a new crate hemi or rebuild it and stay vintage one way or another IT'S A HEMI  :woo:   Dave

The RR didn't come with the Hemi originally and I haven't seen it yet. A man I know (chevy man) is a friend to this guy and told me its been just sitting out for a long time and he has no plans to restore. I'll hopefully talk to him monday, only one way to know.

majik - I have family down in that area (used to live in Augusta) - I'm very interested.  I'm not sure what is required to make this fit in my 'Cuda though.

What year is the motor?  I have no idea how I'll get it up here (I'm in PA now) but I can try to figure something out.  Let me know and I'll PM you an offer.
