It looks like the VIN has been off the car at some time, look at the rivets. Great looking car.

First of all , that thing is wavier than a wet bag of walnuts..

second, and Biggest issue I have .. they want to proclaim the car was built in
August of 1970??

Yet this car is essentially a 72 vert, and they are saying it was built at crossover from 71??

Crossover would have been August of 1971 !!!  NOT 1970.  :screwy:

well the car started off as a 71, im not one for knowing the cutoff for next model year builds, i would assume august? all they did was put the grille assembly and cut out the headlight buckets since there were no verts in 72....

If I am not mistaken, August is the start of the model year, so a '71 model year car could be produced August of '70.

My '72 Challenger has a build date of 8/17/71.  Has a '71 style Rallye dash too.  :grinyes:

Better check your monitor setting, don't think the paint is that bad. Actually it looks just fine. Pretty cool if it is the real mod squad car.
The TV show car was actually a 71 that had been converted to a 72. I think this car has been pretty well documented in magazines over the years.

You noticed the same thing I did as the VIN rivets are not the 6 sided correct VIN rivets.

I've seen this car in person and it is Drop Dead Gorgeous!

As Chryco stated, this car is in fact a 71 ragtop that was built as a 72 for the TV show to "promote" the next model year's car.  Just think of it like the use of the Next Gen Camaro in the Transformers movie - a "You can't buy it, but here's a sneak peak" sort of thing.  Difference is Chrysler killed the 72 E-Body ragtops.  Remember, TV studios do all sorts of strange things that add to the collectabilty of certain cars - think of all the "71" Cuda converitbles built for Nash Bridges - how many were really 71 Cuda's?  This is one of those instances where the car is desirable not because it was restored to factory correct but rather built to TV specs.

Why are they trying to sell on Ebay? Why not go straight to Barret's with the car, they seem to get any price they want? Beautiful car. I like the flat regular hood, you don't see many of those.
