Ok , who else goes through this every year??
« on: December 15, 2007 - 11:38:50 AM »
Well here it is , we're close to the holidays once again. And as usual I can never figure what to get the wife.  :clueless: The typical "girlie" stuff is out. She's been in the cosmetics industry FOREVER and is a Manager at a major retailer.  So she's at the mall all the time. She has friends with salons and spas. This womans got enuff stuff for me to outfit half the nieghborhood! Closets and basement full of clothes (in varying sizes!) much of which is still new. A ton of jewelry most of which just sits there.   We travel every year. Wussing with gift cards is a  :nono: Some years I get lucky and can replace worn out small appliances , hair dryers and the like. I walked around the mall last nite for 2 hours just getting annoyed! What makes it worse is she alwyas goes overboard with getting stuff for me. I always have to be carefull about showing intrest in certain things cause I will end up getting one in every color available. Every year I tell her I DONT WANT ANYTHING..... she' just tells me ... TOO LATE! AAAHYHHHHH!  This gets worse as time goes on.  :banghead:

I know this will seem like a really lame post....SORRY for my rant!  But I can't be the only guy in this situation...  :pullinghair:

You say you get to replace smll appliances every so often?  Just the take the stuff she has now and give it away or smash it or something.  Then you can buy her stuff you know she needs.

I know this will seem like a really lame post....SORRY for my rant!  But I can't be the only guy in this situation...  :pullinghair:

:iagree:  Nope, I'm in that boat too.  :grinyes:

My wife isn't very.... I don't know what the word is.... "frilly"?  She's doesn't wear much make up, not fancy clothes of shoes....  but what she likes, she like good quality things.  Which makes me wonder why is she still with me...  :roflsmiley:

Soooo...she really doesn't have hobbies, just listens to music.....  CDs?  Nah, I do that all the time....

Maybe a hand bag, Kate Spade is supposedly nice...

She loves the kids.....I'm going to make a craft sort of thing with the kids pictures.....

She loves ice cream..... she actually says, no joke, one of her favorite presents is an ice cream scoop that she got....maybe a sundae set along with something else.....

Appliances??????????  Are you crazy?  No woman really wants appliances!!!!

See, I am pretty easy to buy for, as the Cuda could always use something.  Does she like the car she drives, or is it used just to get her from point A to point B?  You could always get her something to dress up her ride.  A set of wheels maybe?  A stereo system, maybe sirius radio or XM?  You could get tickets for the two of you to go to some sort of show, if she is into that kind of stuff.  Maybe a weekend getaway at a casino?  Line up someone to watch the kids (if you have any) and get a nice room with a jacuzzi?  I did that for Joe once on our anniversary.  There is a hotel not too far from where we live that has a comedy club there too.  I got a package with a jacuzzi room, the comedy show and dinner.  I suprised him by putting the hotel card key in with a card I got him for our anniverary and told him to meet me in room 101 at 7pm at such and such hotel (and I didn't sign the card, lol).  Now I feel like I am rambling...but please, I beg you NO APPLIANCES!

Sometimes, the best gift does not always come in a box.

How about...

A vacation - Romantic, or adventure, or both.
A new experience, or lessons on somthing she has shown interest in but never done.
Help her achieve a goal or dream that she may have abandoned, or put off because of marriage/family life/etc.
Reunite her with a family member or friend that she may not have seen for a long time.

Yes, Stay away from the appliances. My girlfriend owns her own business and is always moving boxes in and out. So one year I got the bright idea of buying her a hand truck. Granted now it was the R/T SE Model with everything, but it went over like a lead balloon. :faint: The look on her face Christmas Morning said it all, Take it from me Nothing says love like a handtruck.

Vacuum cleaner.

Mike

I got my MOM a vacuum one year.  She said never to buy a woman a vacuum cleaner. :bricks1:

I got my wife an IPOD last year she loved it, it has X-mas music playing now.

Maybe something to customize her car/truck/suv?  Running Boards, Rims etc, if She's into that stuff.

Good Luck, I am trying to figure out something now as well....

I do my Christmas shopping around August/September and wrap them up come Late November  :lol2:
I haven't figured out if I do this because I have OCD or just because I hate crowds and the mad rush. :clueless:

What are your wife's hobbies? :dunno: Books, DVDs, fishing stuff, tennis?
What ever her hobbies are shop for items that belong to that.

AFTER OUTLASTING THREE WIVES AND SURVIVING THREE DIVORCES I CAN TELL YOU BY EXPERIENCE THE GIFT MUST BE .....SOMETHING PERSONAL FOR THEM ONLY!!!! NOT TO BE USED AROUND THE HOUSE, SHOP , WORK , IT MUST NOT BE LOGICAL , USEFUL OR AFFILIATED WITH HOUSEWORK , GARDENING OR CARS ( AS MOST WOMEN ONLY TOLERATE YOU OBESSION) DONT DO PERFUME/MAKEUP/ HAIR /CLOTHING OR PERSONAL GROOMING ITEMS OR YOU ARE INSINUATING THE SHE DOESNT LOOK GOOD ENOUGH...THE KEY TO SURVIVING XMAS IS THINKING BOYS! THAT WAY YOU MIGHT GET A REALLY GOOD PRESENT AND A BETTER YEAR AHEAD , SHE MIGHT :nono: :nono: :nono: ACTUALLY LET YOU SPEND SOME DOLLARS ON THE CARS, YOUR SEX LIFE WILL BE BETTER TOO. THEY HAVE MEMORIES THAT LAST FOREVER , A PERSONAL THOUGHT OUT GIFT WILL ALWAYS BE REMEMBERED AND KEEP YOU INSIDE THE HOUSE SLEEPING IN COMFORT FOR A LONG TIME  THAN BEING OUT WITH THE DOG ON THE COLD . AND DONT BUY THEM LOTTO TICKETS!

I agree to a point.  But my wife likes Her car.  She may not wrench on it it but it is Her's and would appreciate something for it.

And you have been divorced 3 times so any advice may not be valid.  J/K!
