Here is the linkage, does it look like I have it on correctly? Note that I do not have the bolt/shoulder on the swivel box that tightens it down. The rod will slide through this box fine now, to any position on the rod, but with the bolt and shoulder, it can only go 2-3 inches up the end.

George, you sure the trans is in park?  It looks like first, but im not sure. That's got to be the right rod. I took it off a 727/360 e body.

I always have the rear up in the air, find park by moving the drive shaft, then put it in first, put the shifter on the console in first, and start there with my adjustments.  From there it should only be no more then a quarter inch or less out allowing for any slack.  Keep us posted :2thumbs:

I had a very fruitful day. First off I got the transmission to shift correctly. Just had to grind a flat spot on the rod that I got from AL so that the locking bolt would slide up on the rod about 3 more inches. I didn't have to cut the excess off- its not in the way of anything.

I could then bend up the new transmission fluid cooling line and then 'organized' them a little with some various clamps. THey run about an inch from the headers so I plan to attach a piece of special fireproof gasket material that I once used to shield a starter from header heat.

Tomorrow may be the day I actually try to fire this motor!

Its running and shifting. I am working on a minor oil leak at what appears to be the oil filter plate gasket.
