Finally! barracuda is getting painted next week
« on: December 17, 2007 - 01:05:22 PM »
It was an exciting drive in my barracuda today taking it to the body shop. And after setting up and dissasembled since 1975, it made its longest journey yet of 50 miles round trip to the paint shop. The man looked at the car and said next week he will have a spot cleared for me and have it done before Jan. 5th. He is charging me 400 bucks more to have to completely reprime the whole car and block sand the quarters smoother. And to also paint the lower car and splash pans organosol for me. So my m46 code barracuda is finally going to be all the right colors. I am going to leave the grill argent gray for now.  He said he was going to align the fenders and doors for me. I am not good at anything body wise with my hands being arthritic from injuries and being alone in my shop with no help to hang onto parts with me for adjusting. The hood will be tricky installing it by myself today, but my wife will be around to help to some degree.  I will order the m46 stripe kit for it next week. It will be nice to finally have my correct avatar in my sig.  E bodies are a labor of love and never ending as far as keeping them up to par standards (mopar). I love it

Hey Al,

Sounds great.  It will be great to have an M46 the way it should be.  I can hardly wait to see it.

Nothing better than seeing the car freshly assembled after paint.  Congratulations.  I am looking forward to seeing a completed M46 car.

Thanks guys. I just got back from town shipping members some parts and I stopped and bought a half gallon of organosol dcc9355 paint for the lower black out and tail panel. 217 bucks for the kit. Then I bought a seam sealer self leveling kit for the roof rails . Now I have to order the factory pin stripe tomorrow. That's another 150 bucks, but I am getting real close to having a good solid clean m46 barracuda. I have to mount the barracuda fender emblems and the chrome tail section. Then lastly, the scoops.  I got the dana 60 tore down last night and ready to deliver to huntsville to have it narrowed down to e body width. And I bought the kit to re seal the 4 speed. After all this, I have to start on the soft seals which I bought , then completely go back through the interior again. I bought legendary covers and installed them, also carpet, but I need to do a new dash pad and door panels. I used what came with the car to get it moving for now. I am attempting to install the rear sway bar tonight....ALAN

Alan glad to see your M46 Barracuda will be painted soon. I for one can't wait to see pictures so make sure you take lots and post them as soon as you can. Nice Christmas present and you will be able to drive and show the car off as many people have never seen a M46 Barracuda.
