Repop rear valance fittment?
« on: December 18, 2007 - 12:56:02 PM »
I've heard they fit like crap.

Look on this Chally T/A on e-bag (obviously a repop w/that license plate bracket):

Looks good on the right side:

Left side looks horrid:
'70 318-auto Chally 'vert
'71 383-auto 'Cuda 'vert (sold)
06 300c SRT8
04 2500 QCLB 4x4 HO

I have a repo rear panel on my orange Challenger. I sure did get it to fit better than that.  :eek4:

And for 70-72 the bracket for the license plate should have been removed before paint.

It would not matter if you got new oem quarters from Chrysler because it looks to me that the quarter is not shaped correctly making the rear valance not look right.  The quarter would have to be worked the same as the repops.  That body work just shows that the one that did it does not know how to do it correctly.

It's got to be in the quarter/rear of the car.  Look at how the bumper fits on that side too.

Looks to me like the quarter is off and the valance was bent to fit the quarter.

I have installed 3 of them (1 challenger and 2 cuda) and I have not had any problems with fitment. I agree that the quarter on that challenger is jacked up.

I emailed the seller about this and they claim it is fine, that it is just the angle the picture was taken from.  BS?????

Obviously BS.  You can see how bent the valance is.  What did you expect the seller to say?

What's horrible is that they PAINTED the car with the valance/quarter panel looking like that.  If I had something as obviously f*cked up as that I know one of my friends would have said something.

yeah, it definitely looks like someone forgot to measure from qtr to qtr. that thing is f*ckd  :22yikes: definitely not a picture angle  :misbehaving:

i cant beleive that they didnt at least cut and adjust the valance if they didnt want to cut the qtr loose, anything would be better than that!

About the only problem I had with my repop from goodmark was that while one side fit nice and snug with almost no gap, the other side did not appear to be stamped flat on the seam and left a larger gap. A bit of massaging was required to get that side to equal the other but it fit the opening fine.

Geez, that looks crappy.  I believe it is the qtr. as well.  NOT the angle of the picture.  I wonder how many other shortcuts werew taken on that car?
