But how will the owner come to you if he doesn`t know you have it?Send it to Barry or someone who has a better chance of reuiniting it with the car.

:iagree:  Barry, or even JJ has a better chance of reuniting it with the owner.  I'm not saying that you aren't able to clown, but just that they are already established in the Mopar world.....

Could always send it the Galen Govier...  :poopoke:  :stirpot: :roflsmiley:

I am sorry but I wouldn't send Galen Govier anything for free,we'll maybe a pair of skid marked shorts.
Barry and JJ are real world class guys and one of them might get it,but first I want to see if the market is as dead as it MIGHT seem.
I really think that the chances of this car still being out there are slim to notta,I have researched this car for two years and know a great deal about it and it's last owner.

If you give Barry a full pic of the original tag at least the guy you sell it to would have a tough time adding a bunch of rare options to the rebody.  Maybe disclose in your add that this was done to keep the crooks away. :dunno:

I'm relatively new to all this, but I think it is incredibly cool that folks like Barry, Galen, and many others all have gathered a lot of "data" as well as physical items over the years (either as a hobby or as part of their "business." )   As a newcomer to this "hobby," I am amazed at the wealth of knowledge accumulated and some (like Barry) who freely share this quite openly (whereas others may not, or charge $$ for it).  In each case, that is their decision and their right, since they "own" the items and the data base of information they have accumulated over the years.

So, what happens to all this data in the future?  Fast forward and what are the sons and daughters of us MOPAR nuts going to have access to -- say 20 plus years from now?   Will this information still be available -- or will it have been destroyed or forgotten or sold off as a "private collection" unavailable to MOPAR enthusiasts?   Sure would be nice if we could find a way to maintain all this to ensure it's availability for future "newbees" in this passion of collecting MOPARS!

Just my 2 cents...   Vermont MOPAR

This is a really good point. What will happen to all of the info he's collected if Barry gets eaten by a polar bear?

Moparclown, if you decide not to sell the tag, just keep it on the wall. No need to send it to me. Please register the tag on my online registry page, if someone really has the car to it and sees the tag, he will probably email me and I will let you know. This is probably the easiest solution and I suggest this to everyone with a tag.

Vermont Mopar, every car that is registered on the Challenger-Registry or Barracuda-Registry is published online for everyone to see. The site will still be online in 20+ years (hopefully), so our sons and daughters will be able to see us old guys and our old cars in the future.

Send it to   Barry, but I would also list it on e-bay for $0.01.

The winner MUST provide proof of ownership of the said car.

That way you can reach 50 million people; not folks who peruse message  boards or get lucky on a Google search.

As far as the tag goes, sell it if you want, send it in if you want, whatever.

BUT please do send a clear photo of it to JJ, myself or both of us without anything hidden. That way, if the car it matches does show up at least the data will be on file and the owner can have an accurate reproduction tag made if some one buys the original and can not be located.

I really don't think this could ever reach my reserve,I hold this tag very close to my heart.I have searched for the remains of that car for a few years and could probably write a book on the stories and people that I have heard and met.As for now it's my own little piece of mopar rarity, and is in safe keeping. If I decide to sell it and thats a big IF I will send Barry all the info I have.

Well, even if you do not decide to sell, let me know anyway. If the car shows up on my radar, I can let you know.  ;)
