A fender tag(please don't hate me)
« on: December 19, 2007 - 09:51:09 PM »
I trust you guys to be honest and I am a grown up so here it is.I have been kicking around the Idea of listing a very rare car fender tag,I have a few hanging on my wall. But consider this to be one of my most valuable, and because of that I was thinking of putting a large reserve on it and seeing if someone or someones wants it more than me?Give me your input?-----all of it

                                                 Thanks The Clown

Personally, I don't put any valule on fender tags. They can be easily reproduced if needed (not illegal like VIN plates), and the chance of finding the car that it belongs to is infiinitesimal. If someone were restoring a car, they would need to alter the vehicle to match the options on the tag, which they probably wouldn't want to do. I believe there are people who collect them, but how much they will spend for one is anybodys guess.

I`m sure there are some who just collect them but I would think someone paying a more than a few bucks for one is looking to use it for fraud so I personally would not sell any but it`s on your consience.  :2cents: To me it`s more than just the money.  :money:

My first vote would be send them to Barry.  2nd vote is send him the VIN's.  Maybe he can match them up.  If not, at least he would have a record if the car turned up later.  Value???

I don't see anything wrong with this idea. I'm just not sure who would bid on it. For me personally, it wouldn't mean much to me since I never owned the car. If you find a serious Mopar guy out there, maybe he would bite. This is different than selling a VIN, so I don't see any harm.

The tag or the car?     I want the car...

I'm sure someone in the Mopar world would want it.  Maybe the car is still out there.  Most likely anyone who would bid on it, say ebay, is gonna rebody something.   :walkaway:

List it and see what happens....   :grinyes:   You might stumble across someone wanting it pretty bad.  If not, keep it.   :bigshades:  I see nothing wrong in floating it out there and see if anyone bites.....    :2thumbs:

I try to set a good example for people.

If the car still exists, the tag or sheet should be free to the owner of the car. If the car has been parted out, then that information should be public as well.    :2cents:

I agree to that,if the owner of the car that tag belongs on comes to me and can prove they have the car? Then I will give it to them.If not it stays on my wall unless someone wants to pay more than what I consider it worth,I consider that very fair.I mean if your buying it to hang on the wall?then your gonna pay for that.

It would be great if everyone who had an E-body fender tag hanging around but do not have that actual car could post the tag numbers up here without the options.  I would love to find matching fender tags that i am missing from a couple of cars we have here in Australia. :drunk:
