Which wheels on a 70 Challenger
« on: December 21, 2007 - 04:35:04 AM »
What do you guys think about these wheels for a 70' Challenger? 15" 275 rear and 235 front.

Originally i wanted to go for Torq Thrusts, but like G-Man said - they are way overused and can be found on anything from vintage hotrods to huge limousines from the 50s and 60s.

So i'm looking for something that says MUSCLECAR even more and i found these round hole designs to match the Challenger pretty well. Not quite sure which one though.

the Eagle Alcoa

Eagle 057

Eagle 186

or the American Racing Baja

Can anyone tell me what offset i have to consider for front/rear?

generally the offset is centered , 15X7 is 3.5" , 15X8 or 8.5 is 4"
I have always liked the look of the Centerline Champ 500 wheel , similar to the pix you have

I got 17" - 8" in the back, with 245/45 and 4" backspace, - vere-VERY close fit on outer fender, lots of space inside....
I think you should go for 4½" BS....

Somewhat true - i gotta give you that. Still people are driving them on many classic musclecars and if they match the car - they look badass in my opinion.

Here's another one: Cragar 320

Here they are on a Trans Am:

I'm also digging the look of the Centerline Auto Drag rims.

These are the same as on Wesley Snipes' Charger from the movie Blade.

Otoh, i wonder how these fully closed wheels affect disc brake cooling. I wouldn't want my brakes to overheat and stop functioning while travelling at high speeds.

I like The Eagle Alocoa - maybe because the pictured model has the zero offset and the "deep dish" look

If you like the Centerline look and with holes, this is a cool wheel.  This is a pic of one of our member cars.  I think they are Cragars????  Not too sure.

Jeeps actually had a wheel similar on the Wranglers.  May be the same bolt pattern if I'm not mistaken so you might even pick them up in a salvage yard or craigslist.org for cheap.

Didn't Dodge put those (or something very similar) on a van or pickup?

I had the Cragar 320's in black on my Cuda for a long time.  I thought they looked pretty good and they are cheap.  I couldn't find that many great pictures, but here's some.

Also, I think that Trans Am has Weld Draglites on it... not the Cragar rims.

Definately look a lot like the truck wheels I was considering for my truck. Hard to tell till I see them on a car I guess. I still like the torq thrust or coys for a muscle car.   :2thumbs:

x3, look like truck rims.  I like the magnums too, but I think that rallies say more business.  Maybe the all chrome rallies?  Those look good on some cars...   :dunno:

I'd say something dark in color rather than chrome. And also im a huge fan of plain steelies with chrome lugs, thats mopar there.

i used to run stock car d windows on my cuda

ive run steelies

and rear draglites with 29 1/2s that looked nasty, wish i had front runners
