Trim vs. no trim

I'm getting some progress going on mine and I am at a cross roads and need to make a decision very soon.

Weld up the wheel well trim holes for good or leave em alone and put all the trim back on...wheel lip mouldings and rocker chrome mouldings.
 
Another option... just have the rocker moulding and no wheel well mouldings.

Whats your thoughts on what looks best?

Absolutely have to have the wheel lip moldings in my opinion. They finish the car off. Some think they gather rust & moisture but really, if you garage the car and look after it (like you should) rust will never become an issue and is a small "risk" to have them look great on your car. As for the rocker gilles, I'm undecided myself if Madeline will get them. They look good but sometimes look "tacky" to me. They do show the cars rake and body height nicely though, defines it's position better with it on. Below is a photo I made for myself, a side by side comparison. :2cents:

I think that it depends on what you are going to do with the car. If everything is going back stock then I think that the wheel molding and rocker moldings look good. If you going for a modern look then I think that you have to lose both. I would also say that you can use the wheel molding without the rocker molding and it looks ok but the opposite is not true. I think it looks the best when both are used. Just my two cents

I was undecided for a while but since I lowered my car and put fat tires out back I could put the trim on but would have to cut out trim in the middle area for tire rub issues so I thought that would look terrible....

I think it looks good anyway.... do what you think looks good....... Hell its a 71 cuda....... Plus it resemble the PHANTASM car :bigsmile:

The only thing I dont like about Carilse is looking at all the cars and the only difference is the paint color! Dare to be Different !  :2cents:

Just look at MEK's Mix and Match setup  :poopoke: I think it looks cool  :bigsmile: wait im confused too  :picture:

You have a good point. It seems the brighter colors go better without trim and the dark ones look better with it all.

I'm not finaled on what color yet. It's down to 3 color choices.

Plum Crazy
Gun Metal
Black

I think Plum crazy looks good without any trim. But the other 2 look good with it.
Decisions decisions.  ::)

I agree, put on the fender trim, but don't want to go overboard w/the chrome.  It's not a '59 Caddy.

I would offset a lot of the chrome on the car by putting on some Urethane bumpers.  Will give it a modern look as well.

I always thought that wheel opening trim really helped define the look of a car. I vote yes on wheel trim, no on rocker molding.
And, of course, I vote for Plum Crazy :bigsmile: ( but then I'm prejudiced...)

I really like all three of those color choices.  I have considered going to black on my car at times, but I love the high impact colors too much.  Muscle Mopars are really the only cars on the planet that look "right" in Plum Crazy or Limelight or Panther Pink.  I have seen Chevelles and Camaros in Limelight and Plum Crazy, but they just look like nice cars painted the wrong color. 

When you say "Cuda" to most people - especially non car people - they most likely think of a High Impact colored Hemi Cuda.
Plum Crazy is a signature of both the Era and the Brand.  You have what is argueably the most sought after Musclecar on the planet. 
Why not paint it Plum Crazy and give the people what they want.
