thanks
the bodyline on the passengerside was a lot of work. the line was actually not really a line anymore...  :eek4:  it was full of small dings and dents and the only way to make it look like a line again seemed to be working towards tape , so that`s what I did.  And it worked rather well.
The high build primer I use ( sherwin-williams ) is pretty glossy as you can see in the pic,  so finally I had some sight on what I was doing again    the left fender still has 2 small dings, so I`ll have to fix that, but other than that, I think it will be straight enough for my likings...  I`m glad I didn`t decide to go black though     I`m really looking forward to seeing the whole thing in color  :woo:    the feeling I want to do the paintwork myself keeps coming to mind as well....  :clueless:    I`m pretty confident I can do a nice paintjob, and I really want to do it myself, but If I do screw up ,I won`t have the funds to redo...  :faint: :dunno:  :pullinghair:

Hey Bart, you really are doing a good job buddy, if you are confident enough to paint it, go for it...... Just make sure on the day the temp is right and do you have access to a spray booth ? or will you spray it where it is ? and do you plan on painting every panel at the same time as a whole or pulling it apart for paint ?

It will be painted in a professional booth ,all in one piece. I have painted all parts on the inside and on all flanges that will touch other parts, before bolting everything together...  :2thumbs:    If I paint it myself I want the painter with me in the booth too, just for the tips & techniques, so it wont make any difference in price either. The painter will not let anybody in his booth, but already told me he`d make an exeption to the rule for me...  :bananasmi   It would be for learning and the " I did it " factor     the more I think of it the more I want to do it myself.  The only thing that troubles me a bit is the fact I painted all my stuff with a crappy hobby-bob paintgun...  :bigshades:   I guess a professional paintgun will only make things easier though.

That is great to hear you are the exception to the rule with paint booth access :2thumbs: he must be a friend of yours, and it is good he will be on hand for guidance buddy :grinyes: so glad you are leaving the panels on in there natural hanging position, i have seen guys remove doors and lay them down on paint stands only to find the way the color has settled to be different to how the body color paint has settled and it comes out appearing to be different colors when panels are re-hung. Good move on your part here. :clapping:
You should ask if your friend will let you use his paint gun under his guidance as paint guns can get expensive if this is the only time you are going to really use it ? :dunno:

Great progress all the same old mate :bananasmi

:grinno:   well,  he`s not a friend of mine... he`s the owner of a body-paintshop in my neighbourhood.  When I came there for the first time a few years ago, they were very sceptical about me rebuilding the car ( I guess they hear that all the time    ) but after a while they started to know me a bit and one day I sent them an e-mail just to thank them for tips & supplies. I also sent some pics of the cuda in the rotisserie and since then I`m very welcome there...
The point where he told me I could use the booth was for painting the insides of the doors and stuff, so I `ll have to talk to him about the entire car...
I agree with you on painting parts not bolted to the car... a very experienced painter could do it.  I wouldn`t even want to be adjusting these heavy doors when they are painted  :scared:

Do you have any idea when you are maybe thinking you would like to put the color on the outside at this point in time yet ?
