it's not '70 only, but i have found them hard to find. That part hides the a/c duct work, and are found only on a/c cars. mine is broken, and i need to find one unbroken. That's whats makes them hard to find. If it were me, and i was not re-installing the a/c, I wouldn't cut it up, or even install it. i see that you have the vents in the dash for a/c, but the dash doesn't have any controls - unless you have them in your new console. Anyway, it is just my opinion.
