:wow: Very impressive Bart :2thumbs: your metal shaping skills are very good :clapping: They will look so cool when painted buddy :bigshades:
I hope you drill some drain holes in the lower section to allow moisture and water to escape, i would drill them and then flood the inside of the scoops with finish color paint so they are sealed on the inside  while it is on the rotiserie you can flip it over to fill with paint :bananasmi and keep rolling until you think they have fully covered the area :dunno: just a suggestion old mate

thanks,
I was thinking of spraying wax in the scoop. those cans have a 360' spray nozzle. The car is no longer on the rotisserie so that trick won`t work... another problem is that I already preserved the inside of the quarter panel before I got the idea of adding the scoops... I`ll have to clean that section up again after burning off the paint by welding the scoops... well... can`t win `em all...
I still have one sidemarker to delete, and that should be the last bit of welding to the body  :woo:   after that there are one door, one fender, the hood and both valances to take the old paint off  :eek4: and then prep the car for paint .

:2thumbs: the wax is a good idea as you said, the paint would have been burnt off by the welding...... we have a wax product that is called Tectal and i mix it with a fisholene to thin it out and give it a twist on rust preventative.  It will ooze out so i layer the floor with drop sheets when using this product.

Great start all the same old mate........ keep going.  :clapping:

yeah, the weather is really nice here now and I making some progress getting the paint off the last bodyparts. the inside of the hood will be media blasted next week and that will be the last so I can start putting the body back together.... all welding is done so a lot of sanding is coming up pretty soon...

if all goes like planned I get my hood back from blasting on thursday. I found a small amount of rust underneath the scoops, nothing major I think.  Got doors and fenders lined up as far as possible without the hood.
The front valance was a lot of work, it carried about 2 pounds of plastic and it took a lot of time to hammer the metal back to where it used to be.  It`s in epoxy now and I coated the backside with ubc.

I the hood hinges had a lot of play so I drilled out the studs.  I`ll blast the parts this week, and turn some new oversized studs to have it work like new again  :woo:    cant wait to put the hood back on   :bananasmi

Very nice progress. I had not been in this thread in a while. I like the scoops you did in metal, they ought to last a long time. I know you are doing lemon twist but in some of the pics I swear it looks like butterscotch. I will be checking in on this thread more often.  :2thumbs:
