Sorry to hear about your car, but glad you are ok.  At least you were able to work it out with the insurance.  Good luck on the rebuild.  :2thumbs:

Sorry to hear about the misfortune.  Personally I would leave it the satin white.  I love that color and I have had a plum crazy one before also and did not really like it.  Each to his own and if that is what you want then go for it.  I am glad it did not cause any frame damage.  Keep us posted.
Got a pretty good start on my M46 optioned Barracuda restoration but now it is on hold till I can gather more funds.  Still need a few parts for it.  SIU Graduate 75 AAS Automotive Tech, 94 BS Advanced Tech Studies, 1997 MSED Workforce Education and Development

I don't want THAT insurance. :swear:

It's terrible that your car got hit,  i think we all wonder while we're driving our cars if and when something like this might happen!   Good luck with your resto.!!

Your car suffered my nightmare come true.

I'll be driving my 70 (Plum Crazy RT) and people start staring at it and not paying attention to traffic.  Too many times I've heard their tires squeel as they hit the brakes and I brace.  I hate that as it's really hard to enjoy your ride in traffic.

I have a 71 Challenger (R/T hardtop) too and it's going through a complete resto.   It too is white and I have to redo it in white.  It is a rarity the only one known with white RT Stripes.  It also has another unusual feature - orange houndstooth insert seat interior.  Really looks great with the black interior.

I'll keep you in mind for the chrome.  I'm on ebay constantly looking for 1 reflector for the tail pannel.  Have 3 perfect ones and one with a crack.  Got any idea for this one?

Guys, thanks ever so much for your comforting notes. You are one hell of a bunch.
Sorry I was away for sometime and that is why I am responding a bit late. Let me see if I can cover all the needed comments.
Challenger6pakThanks for the address. I have written now and am waiting for a reply.
CHALLENGED BOB I know exactly what you mean about screetching brakes. I have often had to slam MY brakes on in order to avoid the adjourning driver's drift towards me whilst watching my car and loosing all sense of direction:grinyes:
On your white R/T with White stripes??? Were they visible? I too have an untouched white R/T but had wrong stripes added to it by the previous owner, which will be corrected when the time comes. As for the interior, see photo of mine. Are we talking about the same thing?
Yes please do keep me in mind for the chrome. As for the tail light reflector, I might find you one over here, but want to make sure I understand what you need. Can you post a photo please?
BIGSHCLUNK On the 50% rebate this only applies to classic cars 25 years and above and seems to be a general policy. Now you can also get a better coverage but the premium goes sky high, and still will not cover 100%. However, with the right connection at the insurance administration, anything can happen!!!
426HEMI & chryco Well I did debate the color for ages and finally decided on Plum crazy for the following reasons:
a- I have a white R/T as per fender tag and build sheet, so this settles the white color.
b- The  convertible has no fender tag nor build sheet, only VIN so I decided to change it all.
c- My better half prefers non white :icon16:
d- No plum crazy in this part of the world
e- Any other darkish color shows a better shine than white.
bb71challenger This is what happened. I heard screetching brakes, looked into the rearview mirror and saw this BMW sliding sdeways right into my rear. I slammed my foot on the gas and avoided him but had to stop again as there was much traffic. He swung past my rear, over-corrected his swing, by then he was on the other side of the road, tires still screetching, and charged back at me. His front hit the fender, but by now was at an angle trying to correct away from me, bounced off me and swung away and his rear hit my door !!
moparmanic59 The car is an export to Lebanon, was purchased from the dealer here, changed hands about 3 times and ended up with me.
hemiken Very rightly so, no red in that year. The last owner who had this car had no idea what so ever about classics. He replaced the original seats with "Recaro" red seats, covered/painted the rest of the interior with red, removed the original manual gear off another chally which he had and replaced it with an automatic one. I had to bring all the original componets back and now will hopefully make the car more "correct". I do admit though that the red/white looks awesome, and had it been correct for that year, I wouyold have been tempted to keep it.
All the other comments from you good guys are highly appreciated, and look forward to all your comments on the work being done,
Cheers, Farouk

Farouk,
Is your parking climate controlled there.  It looks like it and I was just curious.

Hey Farouk,

You got some way cool and rare trim in the 71 Hardtop buddy.   Looks good, are you going to re-dye your interior pieces for the convertible into Black or Black & White.

Hi, It is ventilated but not climate controlled. It is the lower parking level in a family building, and tends to be a bit humid. I am checking out the amount of air flow and will try to improve on that.

Thanks Kenny, yes I gathered it is not a common trim because I had never seen it before I bought this car.
On the convertible, no, the current seat covers are a cheap red vinyl which I had tailored here to use pending the time I would start working on the car. I have ordered a new set of seat covers as well as the seat foam from Year One. Also the door panels dash pad, kick panels etc. I reconned with such a rare and beautiful car, it is worth spending some extra cash on it.
It is my favorite amongst all the cars I have and will use it often, so worth pampering it. :grinyes:

Ok some progress report on the work.
The panel beater has straightened the front and rear fenders, slightly damaged as I was thrown sideways and hit the road barrier. Now waiting to start stripping the paint.
I will deliver the 440source kit tomorrow so that they can start working on the engine, turning it into 451. I am so excited about this and will ask many questions as we go along. :stirpot:
I am not able to do major work personally as I currently live in an apartment, so I take little tasks on that I can do.
I started last week with the console. Mine was broken, so I found an original one in perfect condition, but green. Cleaned it and painted it.I used paint meant for upholstry hoping it will stick better and not crack easy, but it came out too shiny. Shoud I stick with that and follow with the dash and instrument panel or repaint it with less shiny material. See pics before and after.
Also last night I stripped the instrument panel, cleaned everything and polished the lense cover and put it back together after a coat of normal semi matt paint. This looks better but I know the paint quality is not as durable as the shiny one. Help me take a vote on this :clueless:
One thing here, the "oil" and "brake" red plastic lenses are in a poor shape, and I am missing  the hi beam lens. Any possiblity of replacements for these, and what color is the Hi beam lens. Currently I just have a normal red plastic inserted there.
Will report on more stuff in time. Cheers
