Not a MOPAR, but a part of musclecar history!
« on: December 26, 2007 - 05:19:22 PM »
I know it's not a MOPAR, but I am proud to have had an opportunity to be a part of the restoration of the 1st 1968 Shelby KR500 conv built! We replaced all the rusted steel on the main body. Applied epoxy red oxide primer and then shipped it off to the next shop which is a Shelby Restorer. This car was rough, but as you guys know I have the ability to save anything. I've heard Jay Leno and Carrol Shelby may be interested in this car upon completion.
Don't worry about me working on Fords.....all the money will go towards my Cuda conv! LOL!
Here's a link to those interested in some backround on this car.

I love all muscle cars.

I second that. Plus, I've always had a soft spot for Mustangs in general nd Shelbys in particular.

Those things are beautiful even if they aren't as cool as a mopar.

WOW,What a rare car indeed. A very interesting read. A lot of homework went into the documentation. Sounds like a CSI file! :smilielol: I am sure it would fetch a mint at a BJ auction!! Any guess on it's value??

The owner does plan to take it to BJ auction next year. It's projected to bring in the vacinity of 1 Million dollars.

that would be cool to restore also.  I have done some none mopars also in the past.  I just never did like to drive the mustangs and the thing with doing a none mopar it was not as tempting to keep them.  But it is nice to restore all cars that need it.
Got a pretty good start on my M46 optioned Barracuda restoration but now it is on hold till I can gather more funds.  Still need a few parts for it.  SIU Graduate 75 AAS Automotive Tech, 94 BS Advanced Tech Studies, 1997 MSED Workforce Education and Development

Very cool car for sure,I love all muscle cars.If you get a chance, ask the owner if he has had dealings with Steve Conley or Peter Desilva?I also have a real good friend that has a 67 shelby with the marker lights in the side scoops, very very rare car.
