challenger bumper guards........
« on: December 26, 2007 - 09:22:06 PM »
Does anyone know of a company repopping the chrome rear bumper guards for the 70-71 Challenger? I have seen a couple of companies listed on here before, but they both said they no longer carry them. If not, does anyone have a good pair ( prefer without holes) that they want to sell?

I just sold the last pair that I had.  Check with Tony Mopar, Bumper Boyz and ebay.  There are a few others that I will post for you once I have had a chance to look for them.

Jack's Auto Parts (in NJ) shows them for $99.  Easy to deal with.

I'm needing a set of the rear bumper guards for my 73 Challenger. The big guards with the big rubber on them and whatever brackets and hardware go with them.

Keep an eye on E=Bay, but they are a tough find.

I called Jack's yesterday and he said he doesn't have them. But then I called Jim's and they did have them. The price went up though. They are no longer $119.95, they are now $129.95 plus shipping. I bought a pair to see how they are. I was going to have mine rechromed, but they wanted over $100 to have them chromed and they are pitted pretty bad. Plus mine has the holes in them for the cushion and I don't want the cushion. I will put them on eBay once I get the other pair, or if anyone on here wants them, they can make me an offer.

Well I got the rear bumper guards from Jim' and let me say, they are very nice. I put them right next to my old ones and they almost look identical. I will not know how they bolt on right now because I am in the middle of restoring the car and it is all apart, but they don't look like they will be a problem.

Thanks for the information. Any idea what shipping was on the guards? I called Jim's and they said they cannot quote shipping until it's boxed and sent out. SOS.

I decided to call Year One, they said their back order on the 70-71 bumper guards has been recently reissued with a new delivery date of mid February. :clapping: I imagine other suppliers will have them also.

Jim's shipping was high, but at least I was not put on a backorder list. Shipping and handling was $20 ,but they were packaged very nice in these cloth bags for protection. I don't mind paying extra for something if the quality is there.

Thanks for replying. Twenty dollars shipping isn't bad at all. I would have paid it if she had quoted it.
