I dug out my spare a few weeks ago and thought about inflating it to see what it looks like and clean up the sidewalls. It's 37 years old and well kept indoors but I still chickened out. Sorry I can't provide the picture you are looking for but here is an original from a 1970 Challenger.

I wouldn't inflate it. I doubt you'll ever get it back to it's original shape.  :nono:

:iagree:  They were made for a 1 time use to get you to the nearest place to fix the tire that went down.
Got a pretty good start on my M46 optioned Barracuda restoration but now it is on hold till I can gather more funds.  Still need a few parts for it.  SIU Graduate 75 AAS Automotive Tech, 94 BS Advanced Tech Studies, 1997 MSED Workforce Education and Development

Wally,

This tire should just be for show. It's not like a modern day donut tire that you can drive a few hundred miles on. This was just to get you to the corner gas station.

In the work truck, i carry a 12 volt air pump and tire plugs. They have paid for themselves many times over. Major tire damage would need a friend or the tow though.

I have never been one to give a rat's butt about value, I will dig mine out and inflate it just for kicks.  :naughty:

Not at all.

Well, maybe a little.  :naughty:

I am interested in research and facts, where better to indulge these specific interests than in my own garage?   :dunno:
