Don`t buy a cuda off this guy.
« on: December 27, 2007 - 01:14:08 PM »
An e-mail I just got, have no idea why this guy e-mailed me as I have never offered a vin tag for sale.
"I am cloning a AAR and would be interested in the VIN tag – DO you have a rust free cowl for this cowl?

Thanks,Ted"

I replied that I wasn`t sure what he was looking for and he replied-
"Sorry wrote that in a hurry – Yes I would be interested in the vin tag and title– also I need a new cowl top for my car – mine is rusted pretty bad and didn’t know if you had extra parts"

That sounds egregious enough that I think I'd consider posting the contact information so people could really avoid him.

Sounds like a real clone to me.  It would be really hard to buy something off this guy.
Got a pretty good start on my M46 optioned Barracuda restoration but now it is on hold till I can gather more funds.  Still need a few parts for it.  SIU Graduate 75 AAS Automotive Tech, 94 BS Advanced Tech Studies, 1997 MSED Workforce Education and Development

If he is considering switching the numbers, I would be calling the cops!

I would like to know how many high dollar 6-pack and Hemi cars really have the original engine and not one that has been restamped?

I agree with that.  I know when I was at the dealership these engines had I believe 50k mile warranty.  There were several replaced because of one reason or another.  I know of one used car dealer that swapped things around on cars and would put two cars together and such.  When it was being done there were no laws to prevent that I was aware of or at least they doged the law.

20 or so yeas ago I used to read in all the magazines that cars that were dealer-modified were considered "Factory"; I always thought this was completely bogus.  But I wonder how many of the "1 of 1" cars were modfoed by the dealers themselves to create a rare/weird combination.
