Brings back many memories of that story.  It hurt me then and it still does.  I wish I had went ahead and bought either a 1973 or 1974 Barracuda like I was going to do new.  I look back and see that I made a mistake because most likely I would still have it.

Even then they were being referred to as collectors items.

I always thought they stopped making the Challenger and Barracuda models to soon. My biggest mistake was made back in 1974 when I didn't buy a 70 Challenger RT. It was a 440 Automatic EK2 orange with Black interior. I remember the Challenger like it was yesterday. Wish I would of known what they would become today.

The more rare something is, the more it is valued and collected.  That is why our E-bodys are so treasured.  I think about my friends who had cudas, challengers, shelbys, GTO's and they drove the living piss out of them and totally wrecked them.  I bet they wish they could turn the clock back.  Great but sad newspaper article, Alaskan_TA.

:crying:   Sad to read for sure. The bright spot is if they were still making them all these years they would be just another Camero or Mustang, nothing special.

If we only knew what was to come with all of this we would have bought one and kept it.  Only problem with that was the I love to drive them and most likely would have drove it and not kept it put up.

Doubtful, only reason they quit making them was nobody was buying.  At least not enough to make it profitable.

I believe why people stopped buying them was quality.  At the time they were new they did not care how bad they were.  I would say that all of the cars that are restored today are being put back better than they were when they came off the assmebly line.  I worked at the chrysler dealer and dodge dealers when they were new.  It was not just the e-bodies that were poor quality it was all of the lines.  We did a lot of work on each and every vehicle even as much as buffing the new cars and waxing them to make them shine.  All we should of had to do was wash them.

The Barracuda was introduced in mid-1964, weeks after the original Mustang appeared and pioneered the pony car revolution.

I thought the Barracuda was introduced weeks before the Mustang?  ???
