Dodge Rampage?
« on: December 29, 2007 - 01:49:12 AM »
I have thought about buying an 80's Dodge Rampage at some point in the future.  Has anyone else owned one of these?  What are the good and bad points? Thanks

Hmm  ,I had one
 good points -decent milage
Bad points - no load capacity , typical 2.2 problems , head gaskets transaxle blew up , , cost me a lot more to drive that for 1 year than an old /6 Dodge truck will

Never had a Rampage but had a Turismo 2.2 5 spd that took a lot of abuse and never had any problems-till I caught a rut on a snowy morning and hit a tree.   :eek4:

They are hard to find and supposedly worth something if in good shape. Like CP said, basically an OMNI drivetrain/powertrain.

I had one back in 86 through 89. I never had a minutes trouble. I drove it while at college. It didn't have much power, but then it basically had an engine out of an omni. i still see a few of them driving around, and even had the thought of trying to find one and fix up for a town chaser. Good luck on your purchase.

Thanks for the information.   :2thumbs:

I agree they are a little hard to find.  I was in the market for one about 5 years ago and could not find one that was in decent shape.  Maybe I will get lucky in the future.

My brother sold his 84 Rampage last year for $400. It just needed a good tune up. I've seen a few around this area. I'll keep a eye open and let you know if I see any for sale.  :2thumbs:

$00 is probably about right , I would still spend $500 on a slant 6 D100 P/U first , better truck for sure

That might be true, but I like the idea of a compact pickup.  Plus, I heard the turbo motors swap right over.

yes the Turbo will swap in But wiring it is another story , I spent a lot of hours probably 10 -12 repinning the plug into the computer to control all the turbo functions when I swapped in a Turbo into a non turbo Daytona

Would it have been easier to just swap out the wiring and computer at the same time?   :dunno:
