Challenger SE door panel carpet
« on: December 29, 2007 - 02:07:03 PM »
After a year of searching and seeing nothing but junk ones on ebay I'm wondering about having a set of door carpet made. has anyone done it and why would it be so tough? it looks like all you'ld need is a strip of the correct carpet cut the right size and trimmed in vinyl, then just glue it on. other than the reflector am I missing something? I'm thinking about asking Ledgendary if they could do it first and then get someone local if they won't. anyone else in the same boat?

it actually doesn`t glue on it has  steel tabs that fit through slots in the panel to hold it on , but I agree it doesn`t seem to be that hard

You probably need the cardboard backing so the reflector doesn't sag.  Here is a pic of an original.  You can see the 2 studs for the reflector and the clips Chryco mentioned.

That would be best but if I can get somebody just to do the carpet I'll probably be lucky, I'll ask them about the backing board but the tabs I'm sure will be out.  I think a good adhesive would stick the carpet good and I may have to figure the reflector out another way. do you know how wide that is? looks like about 6" or so?

Do you have anything at all?  I can give you full dimensions if you need them.  The backing will also be needed to sew the trim edge to.  Without the backing it would be hard to get the carpet through the machine with the edging not bunching up on it.

Well I called Legendary to see if I could talk them into making me a set and they already have them, $85 a set delivered. something new I guess because I've checked with most of the vendors before. they're made to glue on rather than the tabs but that's fine with me since my panels don't have the holes in them.  so now I need to find the reflectors which will be near imposible, can you give me the size  so I can see if something I can find  is close enough to work?

I was going to respond and tell you Legendary had them.  I don't have a source for the reflectors, but this sounds like a good part to reproduce (hint hint out there guys).

Anyone familiar with a mid 70's Monaco?....we had a '75 4 door,  I don't want to get anyone's hopes up,  but those reflectors look like something I've seen before. of course that's been 30yrs.
