HELRZR was a good one but that too is gone.

How about this one? Too "braggy"? Or? :dunno: It is available.

How about using variants with HL instead of HEL;  HLRAZR, or HLFISH, might still be available

Yup, tried that. HLRAZR is gone and only the stupid ones like: "HLR4ZR" are there.
HLFISH is available but I'd rather use HELFSH which is available.

Man, I didn't realise this thread is so big LOL, thanks everyone for helping, good stuff.

In the states some of us can use old plates issued the same year the car was made (if you can find them). Can you do that over in NZ.?

Just one more idea if you can.

Really? Oh well, I might have to snap that one up before he does. Between me and my family we have several "NZ" plates so it's quite the in thing in our family. Dad has [NZCUDA] for his 73, Mum has [NZSRT8] for her car, I have [NZTS50] for my Aussie Ford which I'm selling and my last one is [N Z M R] for my NZ Mopar Registry. So, one more one fit right in, not sure yet though, at least it's available. If it goes tomorrow it goes tomorrow, any of these plates for that matter, doesn't worry me, just means it wasn't meant to be, is all.

I'm pretty sure we can't do that. The only plates NZ has ever had is the white font on black plate and the newer style (early 90's change over) to black font on white background as it has the best visibility (as seen in the photos in this thread). Lucy has her original plates, which is awesome.

They're coming gold down here in the hobby as it shows the car is an old girl who has done her dues and not just "another" import from the US, which there have been quite a few of in the last several years. I myself imported Madeline the car this plate is for. If I can't have the original white on black plates then personalised she must be!

Thanks all the same for the idea though.

It's to bad you can't user older plates like that. I can use them, if I can find them. I have one 71 plate I wanted to use, but I have to have two plates (front and back). So I am still looking for 2 1971 plates for the state of Maryland.

Back to the ones you can get...

Thanks Dave it would be cool to be able to buy original white on black plates, I must admit. The thing I like about US "tags" is the fact every state has a different plate. Some have suns, mountains, cowboy's? etc, I think that's cool. As for 3XBLK, they're not too bad and I think been mentioned but if I was going that route I'd rather have TRPBLK which is still a possibility, I quite like that one.

Thanks,
Carl
