yep montanas the guy. he won that first super bowl with a bunch of nobodies.  he was the kind of qb that made bad teams good and good teams great.  some of the modern day " game manager " qbs like manning and brady are slaves to the talent around them.  you take brady off the patriots and put him on the texans the texans are still gonna go 8-8.  you take a montana or a favre and put them on the same team they are 10-6 and in the playoffs.

I wonder how good Brady really is, no doubt he has an arm and has a great supporting cast, but a couple of times last night when he was actually under pressure he flung the ball up like a rookie...As for Manning only recently has his team evolved into winning form but he did do a lot with a little his first few seasons.

One of my picks but you have to admit that those teams didn't rely solely on one man.

Might be Montana now, but Brady will overtake him.  Talk about surrounded by a bunch of nobodys, how about Brady's last 6 years before this one?  Can you name his top receiver for his 3 superbowl years, and where are they now?  His #1 receiver from last year can't even see the light of day in Washington this year.  David Givens from 2 years ago?  Where is he now?  How about Deion Branch?  2nd fiddle in Seattle?  How about top running backs?  This year we're seeing what Brady really is, and good luck to the NFL if NE can resign Moss for next year, let alone Stallworth, since they have Welker locked up for multiple years.  The only thing that will hurt them is the age of their linebackers, but I'm sure they will adress that with their top 5 pick from San Francisco this year.

Hands down, Joe Montana. SF had 2 of the best quarterbacks ever, Joe M. and Steve Young. No other team have had 2 quarterbacks of their caliber back to back :2thumbs:.

Montana.

But, my personal favorite QB isn't even Pro.  Tommy Frazier, from the University of Nebraska.

Top 5 in no particular order-
Brady won Super Bowls with absolute nobody receivers, never had a great long arm.
Marino had the best arm.
Montana is top five but #1 I don`t know.
Manning has incredible football smarts and a good arm.
Bradshaw good tough QB,4 rings.

Didn`t make it-
Farve top five players maybe,QB no,too many interceptions, forced throws, bad decisions.
The older guys I don`t know as much about or have seen play.
A lot of great QBs there, tough choices.
Not a lot of QB`s are "born" with an arm, most actually practice to get good.  ;)

Bradshaw ?  Hey, I got black and gold running through my veins, but if about any QB with above average skills had the protection and receivers Terry had they would be hall of famers too. Don't get me wrong, I love the guy but he was not on my list of five. BTW, wasn't he blonde  :roflsmiley:

Brady is good, but he has had some of the best recievers in the league, go through new england. Just like Romo, take away owens and whitset, and the cowboys would be lucky to be a 500 team. Monatana, Favre are unique, they made things happen despite who they had. However, SF did build a hell of a team around Montana, after they found out they had something special. I think tha is whats going on in New England. Manning is something else. That guy is unstoppable, but his team isn't quite there yet.

I'm sorry but I have to disagree.  In fact, it's the exact opposite.  Manning has always been surrounded with some of the best receivers (Harrison, Clark, Wayne, Falk, James, etc), plus some really good running backs, while Brady has had pretty much nothing but role players until this year.  A lot of people seem to base Brady's performance on this year alone, without considering the guys he's had to throw to the past 6 years.  Just think about how many receivers have stayed around for more than a couple years, let alone his offensive coordinators jumping ship.  Manning has never been able to beat Brady until last year.
