1971 Challenger
« on: December 30, 2007 - 03:09:16 PM »
Hi Everyone,
Not an owner yet but I have one in my sights.
It's a 71 original owner numbers matching, with a 318 and slap stick auto.
The paint is fair with some rust in the driver's side rear quarter and on the roof where the vinyl was removed.
Other than that the body is straight. The interior has some tears in the seats but is in pretty good shape, headliner intact, carpet intact.
Engine ran when it was parked about 10 years ago.
This car is owned by a woman who has had some medical issues since it was parked. She has always wanted to keep it, but has decided that it would be better to let someone else enjoy it.
We are trying to find an honest fair value for the car and would appreciate your opinions.
Thanks

First: Welcome to the site.

I would want to get up under that car and see the frame rails, floor, trunk and cowl areas for rust. The car does not look bad in the pictures you posted. But if it has been outside for a few years, those areas should be looked at before a price is offered. :2cents:

Welcome Frostbite, I think you should get a good look at the bottom of the car,That could help determine a fair price. I hope everything turns out OK for you, good site, John

Thanks for the replies.
Can't get any pics underneath the car as it is an hour and a half away.
Crawled around it for a while and the floor, trunk, cowl and frame all appear solid. Some surface rust but nothing rotted. The only problem area I saw was the rear quarter.
Here are some of the interior and trunk.

The car does look very complete. As was already stated, that alone can be a big factor with an e-body. All the little parts and stuff seem to be there (makes a big difference). What kind of price range are we looking at?

Spent most of my time with 4X4's so this is a new area for me.
As I said before, the woman selling does not have any idea what it is worth and is selling to cover some medical bills.
I would want to offer a fair price without overpaying or taking advantage.
She is the original owner and said it was a daily driver until it was parked.

Wow, thanks.
That low price is a bit more than I'm looking to spend.
Maybe we can still work something out.
