What drives better :- Challenger or 'Cuda -: POLL
« on: December 31, 2007 - 12:28:58 AM »
In your personal opinion give details for and against for each car and their  :eek2:
characteristics to how you have found each car.

eg: Four speed Challenger compared to Auto Challenger.
      Four speed 'Cuda compared to Auto 'Cuda.
      Big block compared to small block in each body style.
      Etc Etc Etc. :woohoo:

Your personal thoughts here. :chatting:
1970 Barracuda   (O^--^===|===^--^O)
1971 Barracuda   (O O {]{]{]|[}[}[} O O)
1970 Challenger  (O O [======R/T=] O O)
1971 Challenger  (O O ===== ===== O O)

handling...I believe the T/A a/t is about the best ride and handling of all the e bodies.

The Challenger is about 400 lbs more and a few inches longer wheelbase than the Cuda.

Daytona would be a good member to ask this to.

Me personally have not had the opertunity to drive both kinds yet.
A buddy of mine has a Big Block 71 Barracuda and it is very squirally on the gas, a lot like an A-body actually.  But still a nice car to drive in. :2thumbs:

Kinda subjective topic.

This is along the line of what gets you drunk faster, whiskey or tequila?

Gentlemen, with the wider track on the Challenger, and the little heavier weight, virtually all the magazines at the time said the Challenger was easily the better "handling" car.   Some things are not so subjective.   The wheelbase increase makes the difference.

I guess I am lucky,  I have driven and owned the A-Bodies, B-bodies and the E-Bodies with a few C-bodies.  I personally beilieve and enjoy the Barracuda more than the Challenger.   I have had some really nice Barracuda's, Cuda's, and Challengers.  I am talking more than 20 in all.  I just prefer the Barracuda handling and ride over all of them.  Gordon
Got a pretty good start on my M46 optioned Barracuda restoration but now it is on hold till I can gather more funds.  Still need a few parts for it.  SIU Graduate 75 AAS Automotive Tech, 94 BS Advanced Tech Studies, 1997 MSED Workforce Education and Development

I would have to agree with that.  Both are stopped at the stop light.

 The wheelbase increase makes the difference.

Depends on the application. Sure, longer and wider is better of your just tooling down the highway or taking gradual sweeping turns at high speeds. In the low speed, tight and twisty it can be another story.

the wheel base and the width is what I do not care for in the Challenger.  My kids love the Challenger but I have too many memories of driving my Barracuda's and Cuda's.  I think they will change there minds when I get one back on the road again.
