Thanks for the compliment on the C500, a yellow 'bird? Yes it was...

Did you see the car on the other side of the C500...

I'm guessing 70 GTX on the other side next to the rotisserie, and a '71 GTX in the shed.  Nice project, I love the second gens.  Almost bought a '68 before I bought my car.   :2thumbs:

Can someone educate me on the difference between the C500 and the regualar Charger?  The only things I notice are the rear window, and the grill.  Was it a higher or lower price class then the base?  ???

The '70 & '71 GTXs are other customers' cars at the paint shop.

The 1969 Charger 500s were a limited production version to qualify the car for NASCAR racing.   The cars were built as R/Ts, then modified for Chrysler by Creative Industries.  The aerodynamic improvements consisted of a flush grille (based on a 1968 Coronet), fastback rear window (added as a scab-on plug), and A-Pillar air deflector moldings.  Later in the model year the Daytona package added the aero nose and rear wing to the Charger 500 pacakge.  Both cars carried the XX29 fastback designation...

Same higher price class as the Charger R/T

'55 T-Bird is correct, but the '70 is a GTX... there are other Mopars in the paint shop as well!

I could be a little off the mark, but here goes... The Charger 500 was mid-class. I don't know about the rear window, but the grill was flat without the hideaway headlights to make it more aerodynamic since this was the version of car they used for racing.

On the 500's and Daytona's did they just shorten a Charger deck lid?

The regular Charger decklid went between the C-Pillars, but because the aero rear window treatment eliminated the area between the C-Pillars, the decklid had to be shortened and longer hinge arms used.

You can see the original trunk opening in some of the pictures below...

Yes, a 1969 model 440 Magnum, 18 Spline 4 Speed Trans, 3.54 Dana axle

I have a possible line on the number matching 4 Speed Trans, but no luck yet on the number matching engine... but I have two 1969 440s that I own to pick from.
