What Gear Ratio Do You Have / Want?
« on: December 31, 2007 - 02:48:21 PM »
Just curious to see what people would recommend for gears in my Cuda.  It's got a 360 and 8 3/4, 2.76 open differential in it now.

How do you intended to use it? How far is it to events you attend? What size are your rear tires?

If it's a hiway cruiser like mine, then 3:23's are great, but if you never intend to reach 60MPH while driving around town, then you would probably want some taller gears.

Mainly just cruising around town.....if I do need the highway, it'll be once or twice a year.

with 28" tall tires and 3.91 you will be on the highway doing 65 at 3100 rpm......

Personall I think 3.91 is the best all around....  :2cents:

OK, I gave you a 3:55 vote, but 3:23's might be easier to find.

I have a 3.23 in the convertible and its great for highway cruisin' and 3.55 in the hardtop for the city driving and around town.  With the 4 speed , its alot of fun!

I have 4:10 & would much rather have a 3:23.  My closest Mopar club is 30 miles up the Interstate.  The 4:10 don't like the Interstate.

This is the first car I've had with 3:91's. I like it alot for around town. It's not good on the freeway. But I got a Keisler 5 speed and can't wait to see how it cruises!

Sure, but after about 10 minutes, I'm sure the noise inside gets to be a tad too much for the passengers.  :22yikes:

I voted for the 3:23 that is what is in mine right now.
Got a pretty good start on my M46 optioned Barracuda restoration but now it is on hold till I can gather more funds.  Still need a few parts for it.  SIU Graduate 75 AAS Automotive Tech, 94 BS Advanced Tech Studies, 1997 MSED Workforce Education and Development

I voted 3:23 as both my Challenger and Cuda already had 3:55 and they were not so good for interstate driving and I drive both my cars where ever they go. I like to run 75 mph on the interstate.
